A Popular Place for Breakfast

An excellent option for breakfast, but I think you have to arrive early to get a table. We arrived when they open at 8am on a Sunday and the were already quite a few people in the queue. I don't think you'd be disappointed by the food - the gronola was really good. But, I'm not sure it's worth... read more

We went here on the recommendation of the hotel. There is no star rating for just 'good', so average it is. We think it's better than average for the range of menu and the food. The OJ is lovely...freshly squeezed. But the format is:- queue to make your order, collect your coffee etc from a separate counter and then find... More

I wish I could love this place. The interior and overall vibe is great, and it's great for meeting people here for coffee or wine, but NOT food. I used to live next door to the Grove, and every time we ate there, we regretted it. The food consistently lacks flavor and is really overpriced. If you must eat here,... More

The oatmeal was good. The granola bowl was great. The almond croissant is amazing. There is some magic happening in there. The bran muffin is a good treat as well. Disclaimer: by the time I ate my way across San Francisco I was all egg'd out so I did not get to get any of that stuff but this was... More

We were a bit aprehensive upon arrival with the line out the door of this conveniently located restaurant at 3rd and Mission, but were soon greeted by a very friendly waitperson with menus and were told that it would only be 10 minute wait. The menu had many wonderful items to choose from, and in the time it took to... More

When I am in SF, I am usually at Moscone, and I could eat every meal at the Grove. Their food is so fresh and delicious! There hasn't been something on the menu that I haven't liked! I wish they would open one in Boston!

Went for a late lunch on a weekday, so there was no wait or crowd. We were at Fillmore St location.I had the Berkeley bowl salad which was fantastic. Fresh, healthy, beautiful and a LOT of food. My friend had a beet salad which she loved too. Sat outside on a beautiful day. Seating isn't exactly comfortable but it's ok.... More

Just had lunch at the Grove and to be ranked top 100 in SF raises the expectations. They were not met. A perfectly alright diner but nothing extra. The chicken I had was dry and overall it wasn't that exciting

I want to start on the positive, the food is awesome! You wait in line where you are handed a menu, get to the register and place your order, pick up your number and your drinks, now the negative, ..... find a table! GRRRRR standing there holding your drinks, number on a stand, and not much to offer when it... More

Visited on a Sunday around 9am and the line was out the door. The process is to stand in line (for 15-20 minutes) that snakes through the middle of the restaurant in order to order at the counter. Then, if you are lucky, you wait a few more minutes to find a table that opens up. By then the waiter... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
