Pleasantly surprised!

We were going to dinner before attending a concert at Davies Symphony Hall and frankly tried to get into several places we liked that were packed, and finally ended up at this restaurant as a last resort. We were going to dinner before attending a concert at Davies Symphony Hall and frankly tried to get into several places we liked that were packed, and finally ended up at this restaurant as a last resort. You walk in and up to the counter where you order your food, cafeteria style. You can look at their printed menu or... More

So you order at the counter, then find a seat and they will bring your food to you. Casual place for breakfast or lunch - we had brunch - and were quite pleased. The grilled cheese and tomato soup was perfect, especially the soup. The eggs were excellent too. They do have a liquor license, so you could get your... More

Great service, excellent food, and great coffee. All the things you want in a breakfast. Had their take on the Eggs Bennie and was one of the best I had.

This particular branch of the local chain is in the busy Hayes Valley neighborhood of the city. During early evenings it draws the Symphony, Ballet, and Opera crowd. Otherwise, it's populated by locals and city slummers. There's not much quality in the food and it's kind of pricey for what you get. In my opinion there are better restaurants in... More

Went to this site on the advise that its easier to find parking and less crowded from the Fillmore site. How true. Everytime I get to SF I make a point to get to the Grove for their out of this world French toast. LOVE IT

You order at the counter and someone brings your food to you. You get your own jam and other items as well as your own coffee. Good food friendly service. Nice inside. We had breakfast. It was good but they only give you one piece of toast. Not the end of the world but could of eaten a second slice.... More

My fiance and I stumbled by this cute restaurant while walking around, so glad we did! This place had a rustic cabin vibe and was the perfect breakfast spot. There were tables to sit at or a comfy lounge area. It was a great place to sit, chat, eat, and sip lattes for a while. Everything on the menu looked... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
