One of, if not the best, wiener schnitzel and sauerkraut offerings in the U.S. Great atmosphere as well as you can sit at a "common" table and meet new friends. We had a great time and it wasn't just due to the beer as we only had 1. The crowd was friendly and happy, so much better than the places where... More

This place is definitely a beer and meat kind of place. The decor, uniform, glasses, and etc. all contribute to the amosphere. The food is good if you are a meat eater. The place was full with people, and while it was hard to get a table, this place would not be fun empty.

The food here is so good. It is proper traditional Austrian food and even the waitresses dress up. You can get huge "boot shaped" glasses and have them filled with a great Austrian larger. For starter we had the mixed meat platter which had a whole lot of different meats I hadn't tried before but tasted good, and the flat... More

Since I am from Germany I know how the bars and restaurants look like and this place looks like Leopold dismantled his complete bar in Austria and shipped it to SanFran. I was really stunned by all the details which definately come from Europe. The great choice of local beers was perfect. Even though we didn't eat I could see... More

Love the authentic German cuisine. My short ribs, and red cabbage were superb. Excellent service and a wonderful beer selection.

Still searching for the elusive "best schnitzel around the Bay", Hubby and I stopped in to Leopold's on a Thursday night. Parking was kind of a pain but we managed to avoid the crowd by slipping in at about 6. Tight seating is the rule in this quaint, traditionally decorated restaurant, but it is comfortable. The menu consisted of traditional... More

I freaking loved this place. They serve beer in a big boot and also mimosa's. Their sausage and wiener schnitzel was the bomb!!! Everything we ordered was great, we got an egg dish too that I can't remember. Go here at least once.

This is a little gem that our son had heard about. We went on Thursday night. It is truly a wonderful restaurant. From the servers in their drindels, to the beer, to the menu - we could have been in Europe. The food was excellent, and the menu was varied. It tends to get very noisy in there, but that... More

Definitely give it a go. Little out of the way but well worth a cab there just to taste as authentic Austrian food as I have in Austria every year. It's busy but warm and cosy and nicely decorated to a good likeness of Austrian restaurants. The food was delicious we had a sharing meat plate to start and the... More

We did not expect to fall in love with this small German restaurant in Russian Hill but we did. Recommended by our concierge, we were enchanted with the authentic décor and the warmth of the staff. We arrived just before opening and the restaurant quickly filled up, a good sign for what was to come. Everything we ate we loved,... More
