Went here with a group of 20. They put us in a private room downstairs and given the size of the group we had a fixed menu. It was all served family style. Everything was very fresh and absolutely delicious. For appetizers we had Guacomole and homemade chips, cerviche and a salmon sushimi. All were so fresh and tasty. Then... More

Go here. Seriously. Margaritas were so good (but very strong!), guacamole is to die for and everything else we had was delicious! Showed up without a reservation on a Saturday night and was quoted a 20 minute wait, which wasn't enough time to even finish a drink at the bar. Good vibe, good service, awesome food!

The food here is great, the dishese are all for sharing and everything we had was delicious. Some could be a little spicy so beware. The food is best described as Mexican with a little American influence. It is not like Mexican food I have had in Mexico but is a lot closer than usual Tex Mex. It is absolutly... More

We had popped in after a long day travelling on the recommendation of a local... We weren't disappointed! Really cute little restaurant & busy on week nights, always a good sign! We waited at the bar, but were seated within about 20minutes! The spicy prawns were absolutely delicious as was everything else! Our server Tiffany was super friendly also!

We went here on our 1st night in San Francisco, and made the terrible mistake of arriving already starving. They don't take reservations for anything under 6 people, so we waited for roughly an hour and a half, but were quoted 45-60 min. I highly recommend coming here, because it was worth the wait, but plan it into your day... More

Don Pisto's was not our 1st choice. Glad our 1st choice fell through. Don Pisto's is a small, neighborhood bar/restaurant. Inside it's modern twist on the traditional Mexican restaurant. The food is fantastic, fresh, and flavorful. While in SF, we ate at several well known restaurants, but, congratulations Don Pisto's, you were by far our favorite! It's our new go... More

Be aware, the place is small and gets noisy and those margaritas make some people a bit raucous (not MY party, of course) - but the atmosphere is casual and fun, the margaritas really are very good, the guacamole and their special salsa verde and the shrimp tacos are all quite fabulous. Avoid the grilled shrimp which for no good... More

Don Pisto's is a great restaurant, with a very different and modern interpretation to Mexican food. Everything we ate was good, spicy at the right level and with a great flavor that remain authentic and close to the roots of Mexican cousine. The Guacamole is "to die for." It is worth going back, just to have it. We are fans... More

Dropped in for an early dinner because, believe it or not, you can get tired of Italian food here in North Beach. Unusual menu with seviches, sashimi, etc. Sangria hit the spot; salmon appetizer and enchilada entrees were just right - spicy, not too heavy on the cheese, beans, etc. Served by a young trainee (?) who could not have... Awesome building and atmosphere, and the food and service are awesome. I had the chicken tacos and we got given chips and guacamole which was thinner than normal but really nice, first. Servings were a good size, not too monstrous as we often find in US eateries. Easy to find GF options.
