An evening-wide experience

To us, one of the very best restaurants in the US - no wait, in the whole world - together with Alinea and Moto. In a nice, almost Zen-like decor we enjoyed more than 20 spectacular mini-dishes - and accompanying poetry - all not only very wel and creatively presented but also deep in their tasting... read more

I realise that the whole vibe here is supposed to be relaxed but this is the first Michelin starred restaurant that I have been to that didn't have our table ready on time and I have been lucky enough to eat at many across the world. This is just not acceptable at that level. There was also another couple waiting... More

My wife and I decided to take clients out to a special dining experience as a "thank you" for their business. The restaurant had been recommended by a friend whose opinion we respected, up until our experience at Atelier Crenn. We had a relatively early seating due to the lack of availability for a later one. In fact, we were... More

Incredible culinary adventure: I lost count of the number of courses, seemed ~15 The menu isn't much help because it's a poem and sometimes three courses are a single line of the poem and sometimes a course is three lines However it's all amazing The raw lobster in melon soup/sauce may be the best single dish that I've ever tasted.

We went to SF for Angel's birthday this year and Atelier Crenn was one of the restaurants we visited. The tasting was very inventive. Some of the dishes were very high-end (caviar, poached foie gras) and some were unique (escargot, prepared in an indescribable, but very delicious, manner). The food was playful and fun! We opted for the wine pairing... More

We went to Atelier Crenn as a combined birthday dinner for the two of us. From the get go, the service was impeccable. Our table was a little bit rocky when we sat down and immediately a waiter came to stabilise it. The menu was gorgeous, it was 18 courses and we opted for the 15 matching wines, as well... More

Having dined at a number of excellent michellin restaurants in our time we were really looking forward to our tasting menu meal here. Firstly in was freezing, not good start. In summary there was no real food, just froth, faff and tasteless wastes of times. Aftr the 14+ courses of nonsense we left still hungry. Usually a tasting menu has... More

I was not impressed unfortunately. Ive been to many two star/three star michelin restaurants and was looking forward to checking out the molecular gastronomy at Athelier Crenn. I also really care about flavorful food...one of the experiences I want is that with each bite, I don't want another bite to end. So our reservations were at 9 pm. When we... More

Not only is the food extraordinary, but the presentations are unique. The wine pairings are equally good. For a special dinner I think it is better than the other San Francisco restaurants in the same price range.

Atelier Crenn is one of those rare restaurants that remians vividly in memory long after the experience has ended. Food as a sensory experience is celebrated here, and the guest is fully absorbed from the first bite. We were satisfied and still comfortable after the 19th small course. Despite the care with which the menu is prepared and executed, they... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
