Don't be fooled by the decor...

Going to Atlier Crenn for dinner? Consider yourself warned: 1. Dinner could last as long as 3.5 hours. 2. Come hungry. With well over 15 courses (I lost count), this place will feed you. And feed you. And feed you. I must admit I was disappointed after walking into this place for the first... read more

So how does this title really make sense? I'm a foodie and enjoy visiting the best restaurants of the world. I have no issues with the relative high prices at these restaurants as I respect the fact the these chefs create dishes that are equal to a piece of art. But at Atelier Cren I felt betrayed by their concept... More

We dined at Atelier Crenn the night after our dinner at Benu--so with a tough comparison easily in the making. Yet Crenn easily lived up to its 2 stars. The menu is very eclectic, yet extremely tasty and surprising on the palate. Service was excellent and surprisingly friendly, and our famous chef even came out to introduce herself (and joke... We had just been to the very disappointing Sons & Daughters and we were with our very best friends who fly in every few years from Denmark so this might have colored the entire evening with a wash rosiness but everything seemed actually innovative, poetic and delicious. Will try again but it was one of those night you almost don't... More

My wife and i were really looking forward to eating here and arrived for dinner and were promptly seated by the hostess. The room is fine, our order was taken promptly and the wine arrived in beautiful glasses. The food... very very clever, beautiful presentation and many unusual flavours.Everything was edible and some of the dishes were excellent. But.... it... More

First of all, I would like to say that I have tried the very best restaurants in the world. It was a surprise for my Birthday and I went with my wife. The only menu is 220 dollars, the cheese plate is 50 dollars and wines are very expensive. The wine pairing is 150 dollars for average wine and the... More

Maybe I'm not a 'surprise menu' person. The night we went, most of the seafood/meat courses were raw and smoked - and I just couldn't touch the raw lamb fat, and the raw squab. This is a beautiful restaurant, and the servers are very professional. Presentation is gorgeous, therefore the Michelin stars. Deserts - delicious. Plan on at least four... More

Visited Atelier Crenn for my birthday. Only a tasting menu available with a chocie of wine or wine pairings. We chose the reserve wine paring and it did not disappoint. The venue is subtle and from the outside almost nondescript, you could walk right by and not notice it. Inside the atmosphere and decor are classically cool, reminding me of... More

15 courses of very creative small dishes, served in incredible original plates. But understand it costs $250 per person for dinner and $150 for the wine pairing. Plus the have a mandatory 20% service fee plus they ask for an additional tip. This is a classy place for a very special occasion. They would have gotten 5 stars except for... More

Excellent tasty savory dishes but they stop too soon and then begin too many desserts that do not satisfy. The desserts are pretty but really not tasty which was so disappointing after the best abalone, great tasty beef, lamb etc. Service for the money was not good.I expect a two star restaurant to fill my water glass without us asking every... Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
