Special and fun

If you love the creativity of food, you are gonna love this place. It's innovative under good idea and concepts. You can see the philosophy they would like to present through food. I was simply blown away from the quality of the food and the presentation. It was such a treat and never had a meal quite a meal like this. The only dent in a perfect experience was the service. not up to the level.

Let me begin by noting that we spent $1,800 for two, consisting of tasting menu, wine pairings and service charge. The 16 courses included a dozen that were beyond outstanding, with novel, complex, interesting flavors. Ingredients were top notch: caviar, abalone, lobster, etc, and the amount of labor that went into each dish was obvious. The little cheese mixture with... More

Fortunately, the other couple with us loves wine and food, too, so there were no apologies for any choices made. The staff was intensely focused on our perfect experience, and that surprisingly did not include any upselling of wine. The menu is long but logical and "seafood forward". Again, there were no add-ons or cheesy options for an extra charge.... More

But at that price...it had better be! To start or actually finish....our dinner came out to be $870 per person after cocktails and wine. Now for that it had better be spectacular. I've been three times and each time the price goes up. And this last time was the best so at least they are getting better by my very... More

We had a very nice meal at Saison. Were big fans of the decor - the space is warm and inviting. And the service backs that up. We had a great time chatting with our servers and sommelier during the meal. Much more relaxed than some of our "other" Michelin-star level dining experiences, which we quite enjoyed. The food was... We travel twice annually to Paris, and other cities in Europe; and dine in one, two, and three Michelin Starred restaurants, but none like this....not only is the menu very different from most as the specialties are predominately seafood, duck, seaweed, vegetables all prepared to absolute perfection. The wine pairing was the best we have experienced anywhere. The service, was... More

Saison is probably the best restaurant in the country. I have had the pleasure of dining at most of the three and two star michelin restaurants in the nation and while I am always impressed very rarely am I awed. The technique and advanced preparations of Josh Skenes are breathtaking to behold. The Master execution of every dish is flawless... More

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the host and taken to our seat. The staff was professional and made us feel very special. They checked in with us often but not too often, were attentive to every detail and monitored the temperament of each guest to customize the service experience. When we were seated we... More

Saison lived up to its reputation. The 18 course tasting menu was outstanding but be prepared for the bill! Their wine menus are in two big books - one for white and the other for red. They must have a big wine cellar to offer all of the selections. First thing I noticed was the rather simple layout of the... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
