Thanks to my foodie brother for an introduction to Samuel at the bar, who loves to share his encyclopedic cocktail expertise, & who's one of the most innovative & approachable bartenders I've ever encountered. Saison is a real oasis in this part of SF; come here for a calm & sophisticated evening, not for a frantic pick-up or power meal... More

Saison has a laid back atmosphere, different from other fine dining experiences. Yet the food is presented more fine and innovative than restaurants I have visited recently. The food, the ambiance was spot on. We told the waiter that we wanted to try the chef's tasting but was nervous that we would be too full so they changed it up... More

Innovative tasting menu, a little too heavy on the seafood. The women in the party had trouble with several items. The wine pairing was good. The dessert (a walnut soufflé) wasn't great. Cool, open environment. Appreciated the more relaxed dress code for a Michelin 2-star restaurant.

To me, this restaurant is completely overpriced and overrated considered the quality. Food was good but nothing was blown away or amazing that is worth $250+/per person. The presentation I thought was not so creative or outstanding. The decoration of the restaurant itself is nothing special if not boring. I felt like I was in a cooking class rather than... More

As I have stated in my other reviews, we visited in the last 2 weeks Michelin star restaurants Madera, Bouchon, La Toque, Restaurant at Meadowood, French Laundry, State Bird Provisions, Coi and Saison. I can say that by far, Saison is the best restaurant in San Francisco. State Bird Provisions is much more casual and Coi is not even in... More

The high quality ingredients and masterful technique of the chefs pair perfectly with the decor and attentive service. Its refreshing to see cooking with an open fire used in such a delicate way. The food is beautifully presented and creative, yet simple and without unnecessary elements.

We entered through the big doors and were warmly greeted, they knew who we were based on the time we arrived, and presented with a glass of Krug Champagne - this set the scene. We had a fantastic table sitting side-by-side with a view of the kitchen, and we were fascinated and entertained all night. On our night these tables... More

We started with drinks at the bar and had some of the loveliest cocktails.... And then dinner. Course after course, the menu was stunning in flavor, presentation, and inventiveness. It was one of the most inspiring and best restaurant experiences of my life. The wine list was extensive, we enjoyed a Jamet Rhone with our final course of duck. In... More

You know you're in for a good evening when you're welcomed with a complimentary glass of Krug champagne. This is a small restaurant, and most tables face directly on to the open kitchen. If you're a foodie, it's like having front row seats at the theatre. The food is innovative, clever and, above all, tasty. We had the 'basic' tasting... More

One of the best meals I have had anywhere in the world and the best in San Francisco. .It is unusually innovative with creative combinations and extremely fresh ingredients. You need to be ready for unusual combinations and adventurous with food and be ready to spend a lot of money. If these are not the case you should not dine... More
