We came with a large group (26 of us) and had a 3-course set menu with a few different choices. Serving that many people perfectly prepared food at the same time isn't an easy task, but Prospect pulled it off seamlessly. The Kobe beef bavette was delicious and prepared au point, served on a bed of baby kale and roasted... More

FIrst of the food is really good and the use of high quality ingredients is always nice. The service, however, was spotty at best. Our waitress was rather disinterested and aloof during out meal and took away from the overall experience. Another small point, every time she would pour wine she would clank the bottle against the glass, a small... More

We wanted to try a hip & trendy place that was highly recommended for great food in SF. Booked table for 4 at an early 6:30 time. Arrived before our guests and sat at the bar. Was impressed with the top notch decor, low lighting and woodsy/contemporary atmosphere of Prospect. Ordered a great cocktail and beer. Within 10 minutes the... More

Great place with a terrific menu. The bar area is cosmopolitan with an open floor plan. The dining area has a nice busy buzz to it. The only negative point was a lack of energy on the serving staff that displays a certain tiredness.

Very good food at a reasonable price (for San Francisco) and excellent service. The restaurant was lively, but not overly loud. They have an extensive wine list highlighting organic and sustainably grown grapes. The Monkfish was out of this world. We've lived in SF since the beginning of the year and have enjoyed trying a number of restaurants. Prospect is... More

This is a first rate restaurant included in Michael Bauer's(restaurant critic for the SF Chronicle) Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants. Michael is almost always right and our dinner last Saturday was right on!!The decor is very inviting- very relaxing, glass walls, nicely spaced tables. Food is first rate: special starter of a piece of lobster surrounded by crisp pork belly... More

Well, the food was amazing. The Sommelier was attentive and very knowledgeable. But, the waitress had the personality of a traffic light. She was rushed and poured wine like she was on a stop watch. Did not engage us as patrons at all. I still dont even know her name. Didn't seem interested in helping us through the menu. Be... More

Went with a large business group for lunch, had a great meal -- the pork rice bowl in particular was to die for. It's very hip, great interior design and funky menu as well. Being a foodie helps immeasurably -- yeah, there's a cheeseburger on the menu, but I think the personal embarrassment of actually ordering it might be fatal.... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
