Best 3 star restaurant I have been to.

Service was good, food was outstanding. Really enjoyable evening, with very little negatives and so many positives. There isn't really any option around the food- taster menu- but what they serve is crafted so well and is very well thought through and presented that it is hard to fault. The wine... read more

Where do I even start? Over $1,000 for two people. The ambience at the restaurant matched the food, most bland. The walls are either bare concrete or painted stark white, with bland carpeting and no art or other wall coverings to speak of. The dinner is a fixed price ($258/pp) plus $185/pp for the "beverage pairing". Each course is less... More

My husband and I took a trip from LA to San Francisco on July 2nd just because we wanted to try Benu. But from the minute we sat down, it started our disappointment. After we ordered, we waited for 25 mins with nothing, no one told us anything, such as "sorry the kitchen is busy......" Our server was Lisa, she... More

My wife and I have visited quite a few three star Michelin restaurants, most of them in France. We had heard a lot about Benu, and was very excited to visit them. We walked up to the adress, and - it wasn't there at the adress! Just a small parking place! But a man then came from the shadows and... More

Where do I start? Prices? High. Food? Excellent. Atmosphere? Elegant and almost showy. Restaurant setting is very formal with the hosts and wait staff all formally dressed - men in black suits and women in a type of formal uniform. Service was impeccable and I would say choreographed so it became as much a part of the meal as the... More

Benu is a great restaurant and equal to the French Laundry in the Napa Valley. As a matter of fact, the owner-chef, Cory Lee, worked for ten years at the French Laundry. There's more Asian influence in the dishes here than at the French Laundry, but there are a lot of similarities: great food and many courses. I think we... More

We came here awhile ago when Benu was two stars but I'm sure it has only improved. I wanted to post this belated review to highlight the care that the restaurant provides for all their diners. We came for my husbands birthday with 2 out of town friends. I was expecting at the time and noted this on our reservation... More

I chose this restaurant for my beau's birthday and it did not disappoint. The decor is modern with clean lines. The service is wonderful with the 17 courses paced nicely. The highlights were the thousand year old quail egg potage, whiting with horseradish (fish was slightly fried), asparagus with sesame (simple yet so tasty), foie gras xiao long bao (I'm... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
