Unwind and enjoy

My SF friend suggested for me that I should enjoy the Yerba Buena Gardens in the morning. And I found this lovely place. Delicious tea and breakfast, highly recommend! Seated outside, enjoy the nice garden views.

To some, taking time to savor excellent tea in the spectacular San Francisco city center with unmatched architectual views overlooking the elevated gardens and reflecting pool is memorable experience.

The beautifully prepared tidbits of intense flavor of the tea service (tapas size portions) were fresh and well balanced with a surprising depth for combinations of fresh vegetables, fruits and cheeses. The servings are perfect for a light lunch - no massive portions to be seen, except perhaps the waffles that were also light crisp and tasty. I loved the... More

We love the tea services offered at this restaurant. (They are quite reasonable compared to tea services offered at other tea rooms, especially for a restaurant in SF.) In addition, the view at this particular location can't be beat! They have wonderful outdoor seating. We made a special trip here after returning from an oceanside trip south of the City.... More

I only came here to get away from the freezing a/c in the convention center. There's something about drinking tea under the sun that instantly picks you up - but there's also something about slow, arrogant service and overpriced products that instantly puts you off. So it's your choice.

I came here twice, once for lunch and once for tea. While it's not cheap, if you like tea you won't be disappointed. The staff pay great attention to serving each tea. There is a lot of outdoor seating and the whole front of the building is glass, so it's bright and airy inside. It was the perfect reprieve from... More

How cool is tea? Very! At least at a place like Samovar. Great place in Yerba Gardens. Top waiters, who know and love their tea and food. Not all that expensive. Give it an hour, heck, give it two, and get your shoulders back down. Just 3 minutes off Market, but a totally different world. Try Turmeric Spice-tea.

Samovar is the perfect place to retreat to after a long day. The atmosphere takes you out of the city. Tea selection is amazing. I highly recommend Ocean of Wisdom. The food is delicious. I travel to SF for work and come here when I need a night to relax. It's the perfect place to bring a book and just... More

Samovar will give you something unexpected, presented in a really memorable way. I've enjoyed the international tea services - russian, english and moorish. The green tea smoothie is really good, too. The tea with the Russian platter is to die for - "Tolstoy's Sip" - full of smoky lapsang souchong, and ordering it is a magical experience as the tea... THe place offers salads and veggie sandwiches as well as a good choice of teas. Do not expect to find a soda, not even a ham sandwiche. Nice for having light and healthy food.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
