This restaurant is owned by Tyler Florence who can be seen on TV's Food Network. He's very likable on screen but like most Food Network chefs doesn't get to cook much these days. When I have seen him cooking he has had a simple approach to cooking basic dishes, which is fine by me. It wasn't my idea to have... More

When you walk in, the bar scene is busy and noisy, but our reservation (I strongly suggest you make one) brought us to the upper level... Much quieter and a warm ambience and easy to hold a conversation. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Everything is al la carte. We had the butter lettuce salad (one salad is big... A lively tavern with delicious seafood and grill offerings. Sidewalk seating was nice and cool, and music wafted out from the big, open windows along the front. Nice evening.

We booked for my wife's birthday during our visit from the UK. Emily on the front desk did an excellent job in acknowledging that it was a special occasion for us and Elias our server looked after us very well bringing out a couple of surprises. Thank you very much, one of my top dining experiences and will be a... More

Yes the fried chicken is very good and the popover served as bread is good too. Service is friendly enough and there are many worse places to eat, though this is a place to visit if either on an expense account or after working long hours nearby. If you are staying in San Francisco as a tourist, go somewhere else... More

Decided to eat here because it is Tyler Florence's place and I like him :) Menu is small. Could use a pasta dish on there. Although I'm not sure that fits with the tavern theme. It is located downtown around big buildings, so there isn't a view. Parking is horrific. We went around 2:00 so it wasn't very busy and... More

Went with a business relationship. We sat at the bar and were greeted quickly. We shared oysters and shrimp cocktail. I was surprised at the number of shrimp and size given the price. Excellent bartender really knew mixology. The entire staff was very friendly.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
