Table for 4 for dinner - height of summer season - here's what you need to know

+ves Service: The waiter was pretty damn good. Tried a little too hard but, better than the reverse of that. Entrees: Halibut was 10/10. Simple and not fussy. Sides: Brentwood Corn is ace. Caramelised Mushrooms also ace. Friends loved the Tavern burger. Location: Off the beaten track. Still... read more

After seeing a visit from Ina Garten on tv, I was excited to visit Wayfare Tavern on our vacation to San Francisco in July. It was near closing time, and it was clear the staff couldn't wait for us to get out. The food came out way too fast. My husband's fried chicken (supposed to be awesome) was dry and... More

we loved our experience at Wayfare Tavern. We sat at the counter watching the kitchen. The chefs work like a magical team. Impressive. The food and service were impeccable. Just as I would have expected from Tyler Florence.

OK this is a great find for the financial district...and don't let that fool you. Atmosphere with lots of buzz, chic pub environment. Food excellent, try their deep fried chicken or lobster appetizer...a MUST.....and a great wine list featuring many California wines....

Service was great! Everything my husband and I ate was fantastic but the trust star of our meal were the burrata whipped potatoes. They were fantastic, light and dripping with butter.

Excellent service and food. Beautiful dining. The only negative was we were seated in front of the working fireplace and it was a hot August night. Otherwise, we all very much enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend.

Great restaurant! We had an excellent lunch here for my birthday and we were treated very well. Food was delicious, from the deviled eggs to the fried chicken to the coconut cake for dessert. I would definitely come here again. The staff was wonderful and friendly and they were very geniune. A big shout out to Brandon, Cory and the... More

I LOVED this place! Having never been here and being close to my hotel I figured I'd try the fried chicken house specialty. Let me tell you that although I don't eat a lot of fried food (and being English it really is a hardship...), but I would come back just for their fried chicken!! Over and over!! We were... More

Great atmosphere and very prompt and efficient/friendly service. I ordered the fried chicken with whipped potatoes and it was lovely and my girlfriend got the burger which looked even better! Looking forward to eating here again.

Beautiful wooden bar, good lighting, pub chairs and tables, limited space. Staff were friendly and considerate. Waiter was knowledgeable about ingredients in menu items and was able to suggest plates to accommodate allergies. Food was tasty and had fine dining presentation. Main course was small, but satisfying.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
