We felt like we were stepping back in time to old time San Francisco. The building is in a historic part of the city. I liked the ambiance and decor. 6 of us ate at the Wayfare Tavern for lunch Sunday June 14, 2015. The restaurant is very pretty, old school San Francisco. Our server was wonderful. We started out with a bottle of prosecco. We ordered apps of Deviled Eggs, Baked Mac & Cheese, Popovers and Pomme Frites served with mayo. My friends insisted that we get their famous... More

My group from work came here and had the private room upstairs. The room is great, it's a large table that seats probably 15-20 people. The service was very friendly, the food was good and there was a lot of it, and the cocktails are interesting. We had a really good time and would certainly go back again if I... More

We have dined at the Wayfare Tavern many times and have had good experiences. On Mother's Day our dining experience was extremely disappointing. Their motto must be "get the small parties in and out so we can make some money." My daughter took me for Mother's Day as a special treat. We ordered Prosecco, and about 5 minutes later ordered... Answer: it does here. Tyler Florence restaurant brings comfort food to the level of fine dining at Wayfare Tavern. I never would have dreamed the day would come where I had a $100 check for fried chicken, but I am not complaining. I had a $100 experience. I had read such good reviews that there was no question as to... More

Place was recommended to us. Glad we went. Limited menu but good. We ate at the small bar on second floor. Bartender was great. Lots of good conversation. Reservation recommended. We went early and was lucky to get seats. The only reason for the 4 stars was the limited menu.

Overly Hyped restaurant. Limited menu and very crowded. Service was very good, however but the food was not what I had expected. Oysters were excellent, fried chicken dry and only so-so. Good but somewhat limited wine list but what they offered demonstrated very good taste and variety.

The food never disappoints and is always amazing. Perfect place for business meeting or romantic dinner on date night. This place is walking distance from all the hotels and offices. The pop-over bread is out of this world. The burger is best in the city and all the entrees have always been perfect

I love love love the popovers. My husband comes for the burger with the egg. He talked about it for months after we visited for the first time. Everything was delicious and the menu had so much to choose from, we have a hard time not going back to our favorites and trying something new each time!

On the day we arrived in San Fran we wanted to get a burger. We went to the Wayfare. I was fine sitting in front of the kitchen except it was the most uncomfortable stools we (all 4 of us) have ever sat on. 2 apps 2 burgers 2 fried chicken 2 desserts 5 drinks (1 cocktail, wine and beer)... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
