This restaurant came highly rated by the staff at the hotel we were staying at. We were looking for a nice dinner with high quality food on our last night in San Francisco so we made a reservation for a Sat night 10 pm seating. It was a terrible from start to finish. It was crowded and the food and... More

Went on a Wednesday evening. Place was jammed. Had the 'famous' fried chicken. One piece was severely overcooked (the crust was a deep dark brown and tasted like burned toast). Pricey for what we had. It was an OK meal, but I was expecting something exceptional, and it was not that. Fun and casual atmosphere. Clearly, a lot of people... More

This is a top restaurant. Not too expensive. A menu that is sure to please almost everyone. From Maine lobster. To fantastic fried chicken and an excellent steak tartare. I'm a big fan of this place. They are very reasonable in pricing even to the point of selling PBR for $3.5 at the bar. (I'm not hipster enough to appreciate... More

Seriously one of the best dinners I've ever had. The restaurant is dark and cozy, perfect for a romantic date. The food is elevated pub fare, and the drinks are to-die-for!!!!

I have eaten at the Tavern numerous times and on my last visit a friend said try the fried chicken, it was superb with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, accompanied by an oaky Chardonnay made for a super evening. The atmosphere is electric and you can see the kitchens. Prefer seating downstairs as there is more atmosphere upstairs for a romantic... More

I love coming here when I'm in SF. Even when you can't get reservations, you can find a place at the bar. The atmosphere is always alive, and the food is always great. Even when there are problems, like this visit when the taps all froze solid, the staff is friendly and professional. the chicken is amazing, but so is... More

I went there with my husband while on holiday in San Francisco. We had been told about it by the concierge at the Omni Parker hotel. It was overall a great experience. The food was really nicely prepared. However we did have a few quarrels. I felt the maine lobster lacked flavor. I would have preferred it not been chilled.... More

I'd been meaning to try this restaurant sooner but I don't live in the Bay Area although I'm close enough to visit. My daughter and I were on our way to Chinatown and the restaurant is a couple of blocks from there. It was 2:00 pm and we didn't have reservations but they accommodated us. We ended up sharing a... This homemade fried chicken is an indulgence. Thankfully, the waiter told us the plate would serve two - half a chicken. It was so rich that we couldn't eat it all. Along with the mac and cheese and broccolini, it was the perfect dinner. Sadly, we were too stuffed to think about dessert.

I was recently in San Francisco for business and we were recommended Wayfare Tavern by the concierge at the hotel we were staying. The atmosphere is perfect for a professional dinner, and I could imagine coming here with friends as well for night out. I had the fried chicken, and it was honestly the best I've ever had. I want...
