Small and intimate restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious, and the wine was great. Highly recommended.

I was lucky enough to find this restaurant through multiple reviews, and get lucky to make a reservation weeks in advance. This restaurant is in a cute neighborhood, easy to get to using public transportation from my Union Square hotel. We were seated almost immediately. Now this place is cozy and the groups on either side of our table were... More

This small restaurant is urban chic with fresh wonderful meals. Make sure to have the bacon beignets. Delicious with creme fraiche and chives. It's to die for. Soups are out of this world. Brevette steak tenderloin melted in your mouth. And the dessert really was fabulous. Pavlova with lime custard and carmelized bananas was one of the best desserts I've... More

A friend recommended this restaurant to me a few years ago when my husband and I were planning an SF trip. Happily, we took her advice, and both of us loved the food and the ambiance. I wish the wine-by-the-ounce idea would come to NYC! The prices seem reasonable for the quality and amount of food. (I will say that... More

The incredible, almost maniacal, research and knowledge of the ingredients is the great added value of this restaurant, but not all the dishes are easy to appreciate even if they are always refined and bold juxtapositions. You will really have the opportunity to sample some varieties of vegetables almost totally unknown from all over the world. The staff is a... More

I've eaten at Frances on two visits to San Fran this year, the wait list for booking a table can be long, the sittings latish but hey, do yourself a favour! If you're in San Fran you really must eat here. The food is amazing, service impeccable 5 stars from me.

...great food. Pricy and the service was a little overbearing. But I would recommend this place. Don't have the two courses of satrters as you will never manage dessert !

I went to this restaurant with my wife because we found it in our Lonely planet guide, and we were not dissapointed. The food and wine was georgeous, the service very good. I just could say one thing to improve: the place is a bit small and is located in a street where there is nothing.

This little gem is tucked away in the Castro area of SF. Although not near the center, we used the Market Street streetcars to travel there and back from Fisherman’s Wharf and found it easily. Best to book a few weeks beforehand as tables in this small restaurant are highly sought after. We were served some excellent food and our... More
