The pie is worth it

Winning awards is one thing, repeating it on a regular basis for customers is another....the food lived up to expectations, and the service was also attentive and friendly. With a huge selection of styles and crusts, we'll be back next time we're in SF.

The wait time here was 2 hours! Patience made our dinner more worthwhile and boy(nostalgic sigh) ,i would do it again for the woodfire and coal pizza experience.Garlic bread made with their trademark world famous dough was soft and well done. What a great start. We were also served some complementary bread with amazing sweet chilli sauce. We had Lou in coal... More

Sometimes the wait can be long, but we got lucky 10 minutes. Seated outside, a little chilly but it's SFO. Our waitress was great and friendly. Marguerite pizza, delicious and still felt like we could have wine & been and not go over the top calorie wise. Tony's was recommended by our tour guide the day before and it lived... More

Terrible service and lousy pizza. Your better off eating on the pier. Not sure how they received the accolades. 3 hour wait for pizza that had practically inedible toppings.

Best gluten free pizza I've had since been diagnosed a coeliac. Absolutely beautiful together with the gluten free breadsticks. Great awareness of measures to avoid cross contamination in the kitchen. Gluten free pizzas are cooked in separate oven. Staff very friendly and drinks great. Only downside is that you must be prepared to wait for a table because it is... More

Worth the wait and deserves the reputation! Suggest to go at a quiet time, we went during the Gay Prode March after having watched for an hour or two and the wait was still 30mins. At other times it can apparently be over 2 hours...

We selected this place for dinner based on the online reviews. But we were in for a big surprise and that too not a good one. The non alcoholic beverage was awesome, but the pizza was not. I wanted a vegetarian pizza, and server suggested I can take chesse pizza and add any toppings on it. I did that, but... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
