Take it to-go!

We went with a son in college and one in middle school, so we had a bit of diversity in our ages and expectations of pizza. First, unless you are set on sitting down for full service, skip the long wait and go directly next door. You can get your pie "to go" along with salads and drinks, and... read more

We went with friends, so there were 4 of us in total. We shared the meatball appetizer and 2 pizzas. We left full and very satisfied. We shared the sausage & honey pizza and a white pizza. There are so many different types to choose from, it was hard to decide! We knew there would be a wait so we... More

We ordered take-out, and it wasn't all ready upon arrival. But apparently some of it was, because when we got home, some of our order was ice cold. The pizza was good, very good. The kind with slightly burnt spots on the crust, but in a good way. Thin, but not crunchy crust. We really enjoyed the tartufo and New... More

I tried not to be bias when eating and reviewing this pizza. My wife and I are from New York so we are very picky when it comes to "New York Style Pizza". Tony's Pizza was great for what it's worth. Prices in our minds were kind of high...$5.50/slice. I understand it's San Francisco and it's a tourist area but... More

Best pizza ever ever ever ever!! Great crust. Just the right amount of sauce. The large might have been the largest large I've seen. Ask to cut into more slices and could easily serve 6 ppl.

I've travelled extensively around Italy and tasted dome fabulous food, but this place beats those experiences with the quality of the food. Turned up and sat at the bar and waited 30 minutes for a table which was great, as we sampled a few cocktails prior to lunch. We sat next to where they were making the pizzas do we... More

Can't argue with the pies here. The Coal Fire New Yorker is substantial. Like enough for a small family. Beer selection was excellent, and some interesting wine choices as well. The problem was the wait. Like a 90 minute wait. If there wasn't a street fair going on right across the street, no way would we have waited. But we... More

Loved the pizza and the meatballs. Very tasty. Nice intimate seating inside. Sitting at the bar looked pretty fun too. Would for sure go back. The outdoor seating was also great for some people watching.

Recommended by our Chinatown food tour guide, Tony's was just what we needed after a morning of dumplings, pork buns and egg tarts. Delicious thin crust pizza, eaten at a street side table. Price performer and great tasting, hot, fresh pizza!

Thank Jill L

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
