Best Gluten Free Pizza Ever

This was the best gluten free crust I have ever had.. Combine that with some sausage and balsamic reduction... This place is a MUST do for those who are gluten free. Kitchen does not have completely separate prep area per other reviews so some risk is being taken. I am very sensitive, and I... read more

We saw Tony's Pizza on the food channel as one of the BEST Pizza joints in the U.S. just before our trip to San Francisco last month. Of course I made this a SAVE on my Trip Advisor App, and after we walked thru China town, we walked a few more blocks through Little Italy until we found this little... More

Our concierge told us Tony's was the best and they were wrong. We were also told to get there early because they get very busy. We only had to wait 15 minutes at lunchtime. The pizza was fantastic. I would go back.

Went to the take out counter and got a piece of pepperoni to take and walk with. Very tasty pizza just what I was looking for. Get here early in the evening as they close early.

Dinned at the bar since there was a 20min wait for a table, glad we did, that is were met Robvell "Bartender Extraordinaire". He is a true professional, attentive and insuring food and drinks are the way they are suppose to be. The pizza is really, really good. The wine list is very nice, but the cocktails Robvell mixes are... More

We had been at the book signing for the Pizza Bible and had to try this place. It is worth the wait. Tony's has a variety of ovens so they can make different types of pizza well. The pizzas were all excellent and we enjoyed the variety of trying different regions and different toppings.

We waited almost an hour for a table and we were not disappointed. Their award winning margharita pizza is delicious. Service is friendly.

Stopped for a quick slice of pizza at Tony's as part of a walking food tour. Our guide filled us in on the story of Tony and his wood fired pizza oven as well as some of the accolades bestowed upon him and his pizzas. The pizza lived up to the hype. We were served a large slice of pizza... More

We ate here on our last day in San Francisco and arrived at the restaurant at 1.45 to ensure we had a table when the place opened at 12.00. There was already quite a queue but we were seated almost immediately and had a good table near the window with views over Washington Square. The pizzas when they arrived were... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
