Excellent Pizza

Great pizza! Flavorful sauce, nice crust, fast service, moderate prices. Award winning pizza in North Beach, San Francisco. Go early, it fills up. You cannot go wrong.

Everything we ordered was awesome, a pizza, salads, pastas - orrechiete was the best of all. So, go for the food but you'll have to be tolerant. Wait is excessive 2-1/4 hours when host told us 1 hour - go to the park and watch the dogs. Overwhelmed waitress - 4 tries to get outdoor space heater on, forgotten napkins... More

Our concierge recommended Tony's Pizza so our family decided to try it. We arrived at 8pm on a Monday night and had an 1.5 hour wait. They have a small bar which was crowded so we meandered across the street to Acquolina's to have a beer (Acquolina's - new Italian restaurant that's been open for less than 2 months). Back... More

Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for a table. Extensive menu of mostly pizzas. Kind of pricey. Portions are quite large. I've had better pizza elsewhere, but it's supposed to be an award winning place, so worth checking out.

Tony's pizza has been our favorite for years. We took two friends who came to town and they said it was the best pizza they have ever had. When we arrived on a Saturday around dinner they told us our table would be 1 to 1-1/2 hour wait. We headed across the street for an adult beverage and in 5... More

Wow, wow, wow! We were seven and ordered three pizzas. They were all delicious, but the Tartufo is a must! Excellent service and location made this a memorable meal. Take the bus or the cable car and walk around. Lovely!

The service was good and the waiters and hostess were very friendly. I had the Margherita pizza, which was delicious and reminded me of Italy. For dessert, I had the tiramisu which was fantastic. The restaurant is small though, so we sat outside which kind of cold (but they do have heaters over the tables).

The pizza was excellent, a good size and reasonably priced. But we went during lunchtime, and had to wait half an hour for a table, and then another half an hour for them to cook our pizza.

Many different options on ovens and styles of pizza...walked 2 miles from convention center worth every step...be prepared to wait for table and open seating at bar (bartender was phenomenal).

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
