We came back to our old standby tonight. It was as wonderful as going to grandma's for Sunday night Italian dinner. I had swordfish cooked to perfection. As many times as I have been here I have never been disappointed.

We had reservations for 630, waiter took our order and we never saw him again during two courses, wait staff would bring food, pepper never offered had to wave waiter down for a fork for main dish. Cesar salad very good. Lamb ragu cold, veal rolls way too salty. San Francisco is a hot bed of awesome Italian restaurants, best... More

Our group of 13 was lucky to get a last minute reservation at this out of the way little Italian joint. The restaurant is small, friendly, and very local. Nice to get away from the throng of tourists in Union Square! It is an easy 15-20 min walk from that area, however. Our group ordered a variety of appetizers, pastas,... More

This small Italian restaurant walking distance from the ball park provides wonderful homemade pastas and a variety of meat and fish dishes. When we left at 9:30 people were still arriving. Reservations are helpful but often you may get seated without them. Tonight there was a slight wait but there is seating at the bar and a pretty good wine... More

Each time have been we have sat at the bar. I actually like the bar as it's great to watch all the activity. The service at the bar was excellent and was matched by the food quality. The staff were extremely personable and actually engaged in conversation versus just taking an order. We have had several dishes from vegetarian pasta... More

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at La Briciola. Everything was better than expected. I come from a large Italian family and find most Italian restaurants leave a lot to be desired. This place didn't disappoint. Bread was wonderful, calamari was done just right and the homemade pasta was al dente with a wonderful sauce. The restaurant is... More

This restaurant was such an amazing experience, that I would head here first when craving Italian food in SF. Our party consisted of 3 Foodies. Two from NYC and one from Austin - thus people who know what excellent cuisine is. I cross referenced this restaurant with other review sites. It is in a slightly odd location under a viaduct... Food was terrific. We had the rabbit, the lamb ragu, the orechiette w/sausage and a veal saltimbocca. We also had a salad and a lentil/sausage soup for apps which were both quite good. The tiramasu was just ok, a little bland and the place had AC blowing very strong even thought it was cold outside.

La Briciola So for me, this was a rather different Italian resturant. Location seems a little on the outskirts of downtown. Inside building is all hard surfaces (ceiling, floor, walls) so it can be very noisy, even for a relatively small resturant. Food wise, depends on what you like. Most sauces I saw or tried were seemingly beef based, little... More

This place is a very nice restaurant with good service. They were able to serve about 25 of us without missing a beat. I would definitely go back.

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
