I am a carnivore and they really have excellent steak. We didn't try their Waygu which they sell by the ounce but many of us did have their steak (sirloin, filet mignon, bone in ribeye and boneless rib eye) and they were all fantastic. We also had 2 vegans and a vegetarian and their means we're delicious too. Try the... More

I took my family here for dinner when we were staying in San Francisco for a few days. It is no ordinary steakhouse. Definitely more of a fine dining experience. The decor has been beautifully done, very lounge like with subtle lighting and a serious mood. We were at first a bit alarmed at the prices, the steaks are sold... More

We had the same eager anticipation of going to 5A5 akin to opening a special present. Ambience: We walked into the restaurant and it was a terrible Prom Night flashback. The open bar space with the image of a fire place undulating on the back wall of the lounge, the weird Twister dot dome with seating arrangements similar to a... More

Just had an awesome dinner at 5A5. I was a tad concerned when I saw the raw selection of Japanase Wagyu being presented like if this was Disneyland. I quickly had to admit that the place was very serious. Modern decor, extremely nice service, and turns out food was actually delicious. It's a great mix of american steakhouse and japanese... More

This place is very different than the typical Steakhouse. I would say it is more upscale and not as heavy, but those are my prejudices. The steak is excellent; and sold by the ounce and the experience is much closer to fine dining than the steakhouse moniker would lead you to expect. It's a little expensive, but not out of... More

The best part of our experience was our server, Leila. She had great knowledge of the entire menu, and was super friendly! The food was delicious, service was perfect. I would highly recommend 5A5. Ask for Leila!!

I had a File Meneon in this restaurant and it was super delicious. The meat almost melted in my mouth. Our waitress was super friendly and very polite. She spend a lot of time explaining their menu to us and gave us an exceptional service.

My wife and I were in need of a great meal for our first night in SF, and 5A5 did not disappoint one bit. We didn't have a reservation, but only needed to wait ~15 minutes (8pm on a Tuesday). Our waiter was excellent, very helpful and accommodating. The bacon bread was a fantastic starter, followed by Waygu beef sashimi... More

We are not big fans of steakhouses, in general, though have had many enjoyable meals at several. One that we have enjoyed has been Alexander's Steakhouse in San Francisco, in the spot of the old Restaurant Bacar (which we also enjoyed). While not from that Alexander's, the chef at 5A5, Chef Allen Chen, was Executive Sous Chef at the Cupertino... More

Brilliant food but not cheap. We went on a monday night and it was a bt quiet but the food was amazing. I had fillet mignon which was cooked just right and a very tasty piece of beef. The Peanut butter opera cake was delicious and not too sweet. Well worth a visit.
