Great Steakhouse!

I had an opportunity to have dinner at this steakhouse. Service was excellent and the food was very good. I thought my filet mignon was a bit salty and would have liked less used in the kitchen. Other than that it was a very nice dining experience

when half the restaurant is corporately booked ... you should immediately advise your guests to enter at their own peril, offer alternate dining at another restaurant or at the very least get the corporate party to book the entire restaurant and close to the public...the restaurant really tried to cope with the 2 hour long barrage of animal house/wall street... Best steak in America, but be prepared to pay for it. Do your research on what the Japanese steak rating of A5 is they have steaks ranging from $40 to $300. The best service and ambiance for romance.

Pleasant restaurant, great ambiance and great staff service. The service I received was magnificent; there was no need to get their attention - as if they read my mind. There was a piano guy, in which he plays great tunes. I sat for 30 min. by myself in the lounge area waiting for a friend; I am sharing this because... More

We visited 5A5 on the July 4th. Got swept away by the cool setting and interior atmosphere, impeccable staff and the fantastic meat! I had the prime-rib with horseradish sauce, so tender and aromatic! My son had the grilled, boneless ribeye, equally good. As side-dish we had the truffled macaroni cheese and the brusselsprouts. Yummy!

Very intimate, classy restaurant w/cool vibe. Went w/friend. Started with two appetizers: Shigoku oysters w/chili-garlic salsa, ponzu, asian pear, paddlefish caviar and seared foie gras w/pineapple-pistachio wonton, sugar snap pea puree, sauternes duck jus. Both were outstanding! For our main course, we shared the "The A5 Experience" which included 4oz each of: . A5 Wagyu NY w/truffle cheese, truffle bubbles,... More

One of the best steak restaurants I've been to in California. Everything was great, but the "Rib & Chips" appetizer was a pleasant surprise. The filet was great - yadda, yadda, yadda, but I expected that..

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
