Good but pricey

We had a very nice meal here during a visit to San Francisco, but I felt it was more expensive than it should have been. The wine list had several very nice bottles on the list however almost none of them were less than $100. The food was very good as was the service. The ambulance was also very... read more

I dined at RN74 on a business trip and enjoyed it. It’s one of Chef Michael Mina’s restaurants. I guess because it is part of a large corporate restaurant structure, it lacks a little bit of that “owner-on-site” warmth and feeling. The food is quite good. I enjoyed their asparagus soup and pork tenderloin entree. Service was pretty good, though... More

Enjoyed a superb dinner at this hip, SOMA, restaurant...excellent physical layout, attentive, friendly and professional service. Great array of appetizers...and creative mains...excellent wine list, including premium wines, by the glass. Very good choice for good food, wine and service...priced at mid to upper end...Highly recommend...

Let me start by saying the service here was very good. We ordered some appetizers. The fried cauliflower was insanely good. The fois gras was ok. It wasn't bad but different from others that I have had in the past. I had the pork, but it was really bland. I wish I would have tried something else because maybe I... More

We had the most knowledgeable waiter this side of the Atlantic on a recent visit, who recommended a risotto and then told us the name of the rice kernels used. (No, Food Network fans, it wasn't Arborio.) The risotto was splendid, and in fact everything else was too. The tables are small and the atmosphere is more bistro than fine... More

We had some of the best appetizers and meals ever. I wanted vegetarian and I had beet Bourguignon. It was fabulous! Great wine selections and desserts!

You will struggle to find a better view whilst eating your meal, came here with a large party and enjoyed every minute for entry to exit .

Make sure you know where RN74 is, there is no sign, it's that kind of place. Smaller then normal bar area but this place is for dinner not necessary for drinks only. Farm to table type concept with unique dishes and an extensive wine list. Service could have been a little faster in fact a couple 2 tables away walked... More

The food was quite good and the space was really interesting, but the noise level at the restaurant was deafening. I could barely hear the person sitting next to me, let alone the person across from me. The Happy Hour special at the bar was good, and dinner was tasty - and portions were good. I appreciated that a cheese... More

We spent New Years Eve here, and were under-whelmed. The atmosphere is fine, casual with a nod to train travel. The Hungarian Champagne we ordered at the bar was terrible. The holiday menu sounded creative (Kumamoto Oyster & Champagne Sabayon/ Jamon Iberico Monte Cristo/ Marinated Nantucket Bay Scallops/ Roasted French Turbot/Black Truffle Raviolo/ Stuffed Sonoma Squab/White Truffle Banana Milkshake/Dark Chocolate... Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
