Great Lunch at the Ferry Building

Visited Slanted Door for lunch. Ate outside on a warm summer day. Husband and I enjoyed delicious jicama and grapefruit salad, shrimp and chive dumplings, and lemongrass chicken. Food was carefully prepared and flavors were balanced. Waitstaff was attentive, and our server Dain suggested a good... read more

Where can I begin? I dined there with 2 friends, we shared 6 different dishes, each was better than the next. I specifically recommend the crispy imperial rolls & the shaking beef. It's hard to get a table so book in advance if you can, especially if you want a view.

I love great food and dining. My experience here wasn't bad, but it really missed the mark. Service was VERY SLOW, prices seemed very high (but from the Midwest), and portions were very small. The place was packed, so I'm sure my opinion is of little value to most.

Great drinks, food and service. We got there before dinner so sat at the bar. Folks LINE UP for dinner so bar seating is hit or miss to get. The bartenders create great drinks with fresh juices, the bar food available before dinner is good but limited. The silly chair kept sinking on me at the bar which was comically... More

I have dined at Slanted Door since it's humble beginnings in the Mission District. It has always been one of my favorite SF restaurants. But my most recent visit was a let down. The food is just not as vibrant, intense and unique as it was. We are vegetarian, so we started with the Vegetarian Spring Roll and then had... More

This is one of my favorite places to not only go but to take visitors to San Francisco, because it is a rare find. The food is so good - I have never had a dish I did not like. Everyone I know loves it kids to adults. The location looking out at the Bay Bridge is gorgeous! Plus if... More

This restaurant serves upscale Vietnamese food. The selection is great. The appetizers are very good. We ordered a variety of dishes family style. All dishes were superb. Good selection of drinks - alcoholic and non alcoholic

This family of four with teens 14 & 16, all agree that this restaurant deserves its reputation for a top eat. Excellent quality with sublime undertones. The view is spectacular and despite its reputation for waiting, we were able to be seated on the deck immediately. The table service was not quite up to snuff. Not particulary friendly or super... I have been to Slanted Door several times, most recently in June 2015. The food is always fantastic and interesting.

Although we hadn't complained about the snail's-pace service, the manager came to our table and apologized for it - while our server was doing only-God-knows what. But even after that, the delays continued. Just as we were ready to cancel two remaining parts of our order, one part arrived. Foolishly we expected the second part to follow shortly thereafter. It... More
