To start: Five star food, four star service. If I could leave 4.5 I would. In any large scale restaurant even with sharing plates it is occasionally tough to flag someone down and we found this to be the case. All good. The food was unbelievable. Such fresh and flavorful elevated preparations are hard to find in such a nice... More

We ate at Slated Door last month and were excited because we had heard excellent reviews. We couldn't get a table until 9:00pm, but decided it was worth trying. The service was excellent and the food was good, but not worth the price tag. I have no issue spending top dollar for an excellent meal, but Slated Door missed the... More

A friend took us to this much touted San Francisco restaurant, one of her personal faves. It was a Friday night, so maybe that added to the noise level, but I literally could not hear my friend talk from across the table, which was a shame because we hadn't seen each other in a while. Our waiter that night was... More

The food was excellent, particularly the ribs. Ample portions. Cool setting. Good drinks and wine list. Topnotch, though the front reception staff was a little less than helpful.

This place was excellent and delicious. The service was great - our waiter and the manager were very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. The food is served "family style" so the portions are great for sharing. We had dinner on a Thursday night and the place was packed - I would suggest making a reservation.

Halibut was delicious. Ceviche was great but the onions were a little overpowering. Shaking beef was good but wasn't as flavorful as I expected. Snap peas were super fresh and tasty. Beer selection was great and service was friendly and super knowledgable. Would go back when the rest of the cool stores were open in the building to check those... More

Our meal was good, but not spectacular, it did not live up to the hype. The noise level was a bit too much for casual conversation, and the lighting made it difficult to even read the menu. Would try other restaurants before returning.

Slanted Door is one of the most popular and highest rated restaurants in San Francisco. I've eaten lunch here about seven or eight times (sometimes at a patio table alone, sipping a glass of excellent wine, watching the Sausalito Ferry come in and out, sometimes with friends and several times at the bar -- they can be very, very busy).... We were lucky enough to get two stools at the bar. In addition to great food, the bartenders put on a pretty good show - they work at lightening speed. We ordered two appetizers but it was enough for two meals. Crispy imperial rolls with gulf shrimp, pork shoulder, vermicelli noodles and roasted peanuts. You get several leaves of Romaine... More

We were really excited because we had been able to get a reservation at a decent hour: 8:15, table for 4. They did not seat us until everyone arrived, which made for some awkward standing around in a busy "waiting space." Okay, that's their choice. We bought drinks while waiting for our friends. The bar was too busy to get... More
