The restaurant has reopened and fortunately the Huntington's designer, who thinks huge pieces of red and purple velvet furniture look good together, wasn't allowed into the Big 4. The good news is the Big 4 retains its old world charm, with the wonderful piano bar that is a Nob Hill institution. More good news is the former wait staff has... More

A tasteful old school restaurant in the Huntington hotel on nob hill. Even my 22year old daughter loved the dark paneled dining room and the charming pianist in the bar. An excellent, although basic, menu- we enjoyed the nightly specials on two consecutive evenings.

If you are tired of having 15 TVs in any bar you go to blaring sports 24/7, youll love the bar in this place. Its all paneled wood, dark corners and classy bar and waitress service. Top Notch!

The food it tip top - sourdough toast the best. Nice scrambled eggs with lox and fresh fruit. I try to eat her every morning and walk down the street for a coffee

The big four has a great atmosphere, I loved the piano playing. In term of the food I didn't think the menu was that good and actually my food was average. The restaurant was pretty good value for money though, so even though I didn't think the food was great I didn't feel hard done by.

This beautiful well known restaurant was closed for about 6 months while the hotel was remodeled and his recently reopened. It still has a beautiful interor - thank goodness - and little of the decor has changed. Worth a visit to just look at all of the art work. Bar remains pretty much the same. Unfortunately the former chef is... More

The bar here is one of the landmark San Francisco watering holes. Very cool and a great place to unwind! I was looking forward to a business dinner with colleagues and unfortunately was disappointed. Nothing was bad but the food was simply average and the service was lacking. We were seated quickly, initial service was good and refilling of water... More

Excellent restaurant across from Grace Cathedral at the top of Nob Hill. Dark wood, clubby feel for a classic San Francisco bit of history. Great piano bar too.

The good news is that they didn't change the interior of the bar and restaurant - it still has the dark wood, great historical photos & cartoons, blazing fireplace, and piano that made it an iconic place to meet friends for drinks and a dinner after work (especially on a foggy night). The bad news is that the menu is... More
