It seems that the relatively high ranking of this restaurant among SFO restaurants is earned. It serves good and high quality Mexican food in semi-fast food style. During lunch time it is rather crowded. The second day I had to find another place to eat cause there was too much line outside. 4 stars in this category.

Food was ok. They didn't have chili con carne sauce for their enchiladas which is unheard of where we come from. The place was referred to us by the concierge and probably is a younger crowd type place. We went on a weeknight and there was a 30-40 minute wait which never stopped the whole evening. It was extemely loud... More

Went here after work to try and grab a quick meal before the movies. Although extremely busy the waiters found me a table. The complimentary corn chips and dips are a great feature and I was served in good time. The tamales were brilliant and at just under 13 dollars as a combo (2) served with rice and black beans... Enjoyed our dinner & drinks. This place gets packed so I would recommend reservations. Great chips & salsa. Good margaritas and food. I would go back again!

I have been here many times here and actually my love to Mexican cuisine started from here. Not an expert in Mexican food, but its not hat easy to come and get the place, you have to queue first, place is always full of people and the food is amazing. if you want to try but cannot afford pay much,... Love love love this place! Great food with some unusual extras that take the food to the next level - a huge assortment of different salsas, fried plantains and several kinds of beans, and things like mole, tamales and excellent seafood dishes raise this above a standard Mexican restaurant. By day they are a counter restaurant, where you order your... More

We walked by this restaurant, which was right behind our hotel, found it recommended on Yelp, and on a cold and wet rainy night decided outside the back door was the perfect location. Our one mistake was not making a reservation, but we found a corner of the bar to make our own and cuddled with a couple of Negra... More

Was recommend this place from the front desk at Park Central Hotel. They were right on, it was so good we ate there twice during our weekend. The salsa trio they give you is amazing. Excellent to see a restaurant that has plantains on the menu! And I've never had them before in a soft and sweet preparation. And there... More

At about $3 each, the place had some pretty good street style tacos. Pretty good for lunch, even though the place was packed. Had to pay cash, not sure if this is a normal thing or if their POS system was just down for the day. Still, a nice, relatively cheap option for the neighborhood.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
