Awesome, one of the best in SF

Remarkable. I had never tried Peruvian cuisine, and this one blew me away. Their ceviches (they have many types) are worth the visit, but make sure you try both seafood and meat items. Not cheap, but well worth the money considering location and food quality.

If you are looking for a nice setting then this is a good place to go. Great views of the harbor. The noise level is very high on the patio so if the inside restaurant has tables I would take one. The food is presented well but I found our entrees just average. The service staff was excellent.

We enjoyed a very good meal with friends at La Mar, but the experience was hit and miss. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and the host was very gracious and seated us with no problem. We enjoyed a window table with a wonderful view of the bay. Once we entered the hustle and bustle of the... More

(I was here a few years ago, but the menu only goes as far as 2014) This place is fabulous! We loved everything from the décor, to the wait-staff (who all seem to be South American) and the food. Oh my god, the food... If you like fish, this place is to die for; but they do have some non-seafood... More

Having just recently eaten at a Peruvian cebicheria in another city, we were very excited about our meal (and it lived up to its expectations: pork fried rice!!), but not pleased with the level of service. With this kind of menu, it would be nice for someone to explain the options and recommend how to order (how many items, which... More

I went here with my mom and sister for a girls night dinner. We did family style ordering a little bit of everything. Everything was AMAZING. The seafood was very fresh and the cocktails were very delicious. The staff took pride in the food they were serving.

The food here is amazing and when you go during happy hour the value is off the charts! There is a great selection of tasters and a great pairing with wine. I had a wonderful fish dish, a slider and a mushroom wrap. We actually ordered twice to taste a number of their offerings. What a great deal to have... More

Went for lunch with a friend on a recommendations, and had a wonderful afternoon outside on the veranda. Started with a couple of wonderful cocktails - just a bit different and then selected one of each of the varieties to share. particularly liked the asian cerviche which had a wonderful marinade/dressing. Great service, happy to take photos without a worry... More

My husband and I call this one of our favorites. We enjoy the variety of flavors, presentation, and really great food. We ordered a variety of skewers, fish, and wine. Service and atmosphere are great. We love the location and the energy of La Mar. We even shared a yummy custardy dessert wrapped in chocolate that was memorable. I have... More

We were looking for a place for mother's day since we were visiting from out of town. We were walking along the embarcadero from Pier 1. The restaurant looked inviting so we went in to make a reservation. They were full but the nice young woman told me to come back at 5:20 since they were accepting walk in at... More
