Packed night before the Super Bowl

The food was delicious, from the empanadas to the cerviche. I had a quinoa burger which stood out for the genre. The one caveat, the restaurant only appeared to have one single-use restroom and there was a long line. It's right next to the host stand so as we checked in, a crowd was yelling for one... read more

La Mar is right on the Bay just across from the financial district. The food is Peruvian and I highly recommend the Empanadas. Also, the Ceviche and Tiradito dishes were fantastic. In particular the "Classic" ceviche with halibut was excellent. For an entree I had the Lomo Saltado which was cubed beef in a savory sauce. Slightly spicy but incredibly... More

We were in San Francisco today, and wanted to try something different this time. We came across la mar and decided to try it. It was delicious, and will definitely go back. The service was wonderful, and having never had Peruvian food, we weren't sure what to order. Our waiter, Louis, explained some of the items, and made a couple... More

I guess I should preface my reviews by saying, I'm not super wordy when it comes to atmosphere and how clean the bathrooms are. I'm more interested in food and service. The BF and I were in the City for Super Bowl City and figured a great idea would be to check out La Mar since some restaurants were having... More

Perfect lunch break! We went inside for a drink and appetizer while our feet rested a little….and decided we HAD to stay for dinner. The owners have other restaurants over the world and its soooo obvious! The quality is always perfect and the latin flavor…..yum!

I am a Peruvian living in Seattle, but finally I had the opportunity to visit San Francisco the last week. Of course I have heard about Gaston Acurio and the many restaurants he is owner. The first thing that crossed my mind wasn't cebiche but pisco sour (I had already eaten in Chinatown and I was full) My sis and... More

Visited on a Saturday during the horrible rain storms of just over a week ago. We eat out a lot and have high but fair standards with the number one thing we are looking for being "A great end to end experience" - in other words as you are leaving you're thinking that was great, when can we come back....and... Buzzy atmosphere marks out this cavernous restaurant. Towards the rear their is a permenant marquee overlooking the bay- do not despair it has heaters and, in a January storm, was also water tight! Service good to excellent serving staff came up with a great alternative to a wine out of stock. Ceviche fresh, main courses: focus on the fish again... More

I have been to many types of restaurants but never experienced what I would describe as Peru and Japanese fused together. The food was excellent but the waitstaff was really good. Philip waited on us and quickly told us his favorites which proved to be true. He was extremely knowledgable about the dishes. The waitstaff who cleared the table was... More
