Went for a business dinner recently, and was impressed with their wine list, especially if you are a fan of the Spanish varietals.
I have been here many times and spend hundreds of dollars in meals with friends. The first time our bill for 3 was over $330. The restaurant is expensive and you should be prepared for that! I highly suggest you order the causas and the ceviche sampler and the lomo saltado. The Lomo will set you back around 39 dollars... More
My SF family member treated me here for lunch. If the weather is good and the deck side patio is open without the plastic enclosure, go for it. Otherwise, enjoy a seat in the expansive, plain but not boring, interior and ask for a table near a side window so you can see the Bay. This was my only my... More
This restaurant pleases its guests with wonderful views of the bay. The ceviche is top notch and so are the pisco sours. Take caution with the pork sandwich. It was mostly a slab of fat. Other than that the remaining sea food and leche de tigre were superb.
Great tapas at the bar during happy hour. Loved the ceviche and steak skewers. Very cheap compared with restaurant menu prices but less selection.
The service was poor but the drinks and snacks were good. Expect to go get your own drinks at the bar. At least the bartender was super sexy.
I was first introduced to La Mar by a Peruvian co-worker of mine. He started raving about a "Pisco Sour" which peaked my interest. Finally, one day he brought me to La Mar and I haven't been the same since. The Pisco Sours are deadly... they taste delicious and pack a punch. We went during Happy Hour and indulged in... More
This restaurant was recommended to us by a local. Having never eaten Peruvian food before we didn't know what to expect. The stir fry dish I had could have been from many cuisines. The food was tasty and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Interested to know the chefs were all from Mexico! Not much... More
There is little I can add to the many five star and wow reviews La Mar has already scored. It was that good and more. What I can tell you is what three of us shared and loved. We ate in somewhat random order, starting with the sweet corn/cilantro and the chicken empanadas (2 large each), moving to a jalapeño... More
I went here with my cousin while visiting in San Francisco. Do yourself a favor and try the ceviche. It was excellent. I accompanied it with a Pain Killer (rum drink) which was made properly. Pretty close to the ones I sampled on a trip to the BVI.
