After my dinner at La Mar I got an automatic email asking me for feedback. I'll write in the following my reply. Note that I never got an answer and it was 2 weeks ago "It is the second time I come to SF and every time I have at least one dinner to La Mar. I love the food... More

Read about this place in Where magazine and decided to try it. We had Pisco sours and shared a few small plates to taste an assortment of ceviches as well as the mixed house made chips: sweet potatoes, plantains and regular potatoes. Very creative with many textures on the plate. Love papas criollas! I wasn't crazy about the egg white... More

What a fabulous restaurant. I went here with my friends on our last night in San Francisco. We had never had Peruvian food before, when we explained this to our waiter and he happily explained the menu to us and made some recommendations so that we could taste a few different dishes. Obviously seafood is their speciality and that is... More

To celebrate my wife's birthday, my son and daughter-in-law suggested this restaurant. It turned out to be a wonderful suggestion, especially for the fish lovers in the family. They have so many cebiches to choose from, we decided on a sampler which gave us four different ones to try. My favorite was the Mahi Mahi, but they were all wonderful.... More

This place was off the charts! The restaurant is at Pier 1.5, a very short walk from the Ferry Building. We walked, so I can't speak to how the parking was. We had an appetizer extravaganza while I was there on business. I was introduced to some fantastic foods. It was nice since I got to try several things rather... More

Visiting from Portland [east coast] where we don't have this cuisine, we were so glad LaMar was recommended to us. SO and I shared the halibut cebiche, which fully lived up to expectations, followed by a sampler of causa (tuna, crab). SO then loved the empanada with flambéed crimini mushrooms; she commented on how unexpectedly light the crust was. My... More

Pricey but excellent quality and good service as well. I had the best chupe de camarones outside Peru. Also, pisco sours are very strong - just the way they are supposed to be. Would definitely go back when visiting SF.

If you have never been to La Mar, you don't know what you are missing. I have dined at La Mar in San Francisco, CA, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Santiago, Chile. All are memorable, but this is the original and for me the best experience. The place is "outside", but with a cover. The decor was all fresh fish aligned... More

Fabulous atmosphere - especially in the evening. World class ceviches. Gorgeous cocktails. Service very friendly - marginally too slow (but they were very busy). Returned for lunch a few days later for our "farewell to San Francisco meal" equally high quality food albeit a calmer atmosphere - yet delightful it its own way as this time we were seated on... We met a friend here for dinner and shared 2 small plates and 2 mains between 3 of us, with nice wine. The food was delicious and service excellent. It is upmarket, so a bit pricey, but feels relaxed. We liked the decor too. A good place to meet and take your time over dinner.
