Good Weekday Brunch

Amber shouldn't be missed! Not a big buffet / brunch type of fan, but the spread Amber displays is really delicious and first class. The service is efficient and friendly. Will be back for sure!

The restaurant is located close to the center of the city and when we went there in the evening it was almost full. They initially tried telling us that we need a reservation but got us a table pretty fast. Service was a bit slow. We asked for spicy dishes and what we got was pretty mild. The authentic Indian... I had lunch at amber three times in the last two years, always for lunch and more for convenience than for the experience. All three times I was left wondering how it can be in the top 5% of trip advisor ratings for San Francisco. Here is why: a nice white table cloth and a quite limited choice of unimpressive... More

As you can see from my title, I'm all about word play. Amber is more than a color, it's an awakening. If you've walked by this place then you know what I'm talking about. GO!

It is one of busiest Indian restaurants in the city. It is advisable to get reservations in advance otherwise you might have to wait from 30-50 minutes easily. It is very close to Union square which is a huge tourist area. The food is good. I like to go there for lunch and brunch more than dinner.

This is an elegant and comfortable indian restaurant next to the Marriott on Mission. The food is traditional (samosa, curry, tandoori, etc) but everything is perfectly prepared and skillfully presented. Excellent service.

We arrived late for our reservation, dressed casually, but nonetheless we were treated courteously and seated promptly. There were vegan appetizers on the menu, and three vegan main courses to choose from as well as three vegan side dishes. Our food was fantastic! The portion sizes were good, for a great price for dinner. The wait staff were unsure about... More

The front door and bar area of Amber House, basically on the backside of the Marriott Marquis, makes the restaurant looks small. But it goes on and on inside. We got a table without a reservation on a busy night. Service was attentive. Prices, a bit steep, but this is SF. Food was tasty and portions were reasonable. However, two... More

My wife and I had dinner at Amber during our recent trip to San Francisco. This is a nice restaurant, with good food, friendly service and nice ambiance.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
