Two hits, one miss

My husband and I landed in the Cadtro district on a happy accident and decided to capitalize on the opportunity by walking Castro street. I had read reviews about this spot, and decided not to go out of the way to find it, but since we'd stumbled into Castro by accident, we spotted this shop also... read more

Overrated in my opinion. Tried the coconut chocolate macaroon, it was alright. In my opinion, they are many nearby quirky gay cafes that sell equally if not better cookies and pastries. But the shop is cute and the staff are friendly. Plus, if you're into phallic shape cookies, then this maybe your thing!

I found this shop by chance while on a walking tour of the Castro in San Francisco. The selection of cookies is extensive, and since I couldn't make up my mind, I ended up purchasing three different types. I tried a little piece of each when I got back to my hotel and could not tell which was better.

I wouldn't go out of my way but we saw this place walking by and our local friends encouraged us to get some goodies. Waited in line for about 10 minutes. It's a decent selection. They only allow you to buy 1 chocolate chip cookie per customer and cash only.

We skipped our desserts at eureka around the corner and came across this outlet at the top of castro. Packed full of fresh cookies and something with chocolate and peanut butter layers as well as brownies... bloody lovely. Definitely hearty food for those I need of a pick me up! A great treat.

We were looking for baked sweets in the castro and passed this place over initially because we thought it was an erotic shop lol. But it turned out to be a great bakery! Loved the cookies! :D

These cookies are the Best! Large, full of wonderful ingredients, and they stay fresh for days, if they last that long! I discovered Hot Cookies last summer and couldn't wait to go back when visiting this winter.

Great little place in the Castro. I didn't have any cookies, being GF. But, I did buy the enormous coconut maroon cock-shaped cookie on a stick dipped in chocolate. And, I ate on that thing for three days, it was so huge! So go, and have fun. Teeny tiny little place but well worth the stop.

Hot Cookie has crumbled a bit. The Venus Penis is a chocolate covered macaroon that is still good. However, they used to have so much more. The chocolate chip was just ok.

The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
