Great spot for breakfast.

We ate here two mornings while staying around the corner at the Columbus Motor Inn. Quick, efficient service, good food, spotlessly clean. What more could you ask for? Walking towards Fisherman's Wharf we were looking for a nice place for breakfast. We found it at Pat's Cafe. I had the Eggs Benedict and they were perfectly cooked. Eggs were cooked just right, not overdone. Broke and blended well with the great Hollandaise sauce. Very busy but not surprised with such good food. Small grapefruit juice was more of... More

Hubby and I dined here twice while staying in SF for a week. It's the coziest of little local places! The owner, Pat, can be found there daily and she's an absolute pleasure to speak with. The food is delicious---Satisfying in terms of portion size, perfectly reasonable amount of food for the price, and filled with delightful flavor in every... More

Pat's is a great place to have breakfast in the Fisherman's wharf area. What a true neighborhood gem. A small breakfast place that were we able to walk in and be seated quickly on a Saturday morning. Prices are quite fair- much better than the close by Denny's and much better quality. I had the Biscuits & Sausage with Gravy... More

Very small café type breakfast place, immediately off Columbus Ave, 3-4 blocks south of Fisherman's Wharf , he Powell Mason cable car turnaround is one block away, also the MUNI bus # 30 drops off 1 block away. We had basic breakfast items, eggs, pancakes---all arrived quickly and hot. Fruit side dish is delicious--fresh fruit, not canned. Place is very... More

This was just around the corner from our hotel and we came here all three days to have breakfast. What a great little find! We tried the French Toast special, Eggs Benedict and Breakfast Sandwich. Every thing we tried was great! Super strong coffee if you like it dark! Pat herself checked in on us one morning. Lovely spot, nice... More

We visited Pat's twice on our stay in San Francisco, both times for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The first time we were up early to go on a whale watching tour and were attracted because this was one of the few cafes open early enough. Later we called in on a Saturday morning, (not so early!) and had... More

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
