Breakfast of champions.

We ate breakfast here twice...great scrambles, nice French toast, good coffee and terrific service. I would recommend highly as a great way to start a day sight seeing! Only one minor complaint - you guys need to cook more hash, two visits sand both times it was all gone!

From the moment we walked in we felt the calm energy surround us. From the hot tea and coffee to the eggs, bacon, ham, home fries, it was wonderful... Portions are generous.. Music is from jazz to bluegrass. Felt "like home'. We definitely will be visiting "Pat's Café" again before we live the city!!

My family and I ate breakfast at this cafe during a recent 5 day holiday in San Fransisco. Great tasty breakfast - fast service. Provides free WIFI for customers to use. Can get busy on weekends.

We ended up at Pat's after being discouraged by the queue at mama's. We waited five minutes and we were able to choose from a wide range of eggs, French toasts, pancakes among others. The food came quickly and it was delicious, the staff was very nice and the bill pretty cheap (43 for 2ppl including tip). Would definitely go... More

Just up Taylor St from the cable car terminal lies this gem of a place. Open early on a Sunday, it provides the sort of breakfast badly needed by one who has just walked over the hills from down town. (Yes, I should have known better). A huge plate of freshly prepared food (Pat's hash, 2 eggs, bacon side dish).... More

On our way from North Beach to the waterfront we stumbled upoe this gem. Pat is still working the place and everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was quite good though not fantastic. The coffee was reasonably good.

We went here a couple of times for breakfast, and thought the food was very good.. The café is not really in the busy tourist area (although near our hotel) and seems to cater for locals as well as holidaymakers. The prices are very reasonable and portion sizes good without being so huge that you can't eat it all. Staff... More

I was in the area to get tickets for a nearby attraction; the office wasn't open yet, so I went in search of breakfast. Pat's was nearby and highly rated, so I gave it a go. The walk from Pier 39 was very pleasant. The service was friendly and attentive without intruding. My coffee cup was never empty. I had... More

My wife and I stayed at the nearby Columbus Motor Inn, and were pleasantly surprised to find this highly-rates breakfast spot so close-by! The food was great, and had a ton of mouth-watering options. The service was a bit slow, but understandably: the place was packed! There was never a wait outside and yet it seemed like people were just... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
