A good go-to for first or return SF trips

Our first stop was about 3 trips ago, visit SF 3-4 times a year for business, baseball, and good old city r&r. This place is always bustling so necessarily a quiet, lingering type of dining experience, but not atypical for the most cities, especially SF. The food is great, plenty of variety for... read more

You know, OSHA is good. It's just way big and way slick. As good as it is there are many Thai places in town that are way better -- Lers Ros, Kin Khao -- to name a couple. Don't avoid OSHA if someone insists. But, if they ask you, you can lead them to something really special instead.

While visiting SF last week, my wife and I had dinner at Osha Thai at the Embarcadero. We have eaten lunch there two or three times during previous trips, but this was our first dinner experience and it proved to be the best dinner we had during our stay. A couple of provisos if you go on a Friday night...be... More

This restaurant is just a few small changes away from being Great. Location was good. Virtually opposite the Ferry Building and a short walk from the end of the Califormia cable car. It was very busy which is always a good sign but we got a table quickly. Service was good, very attentive. Lamb / Chicken satay was good although... More

Everytime I visit the city of SFO, I make plans to dine here. The ambience is nice and has a very authentic Thai feel to it. Its opposite the Ferry Terminal in one of the Embarcadero buildings so location is superb. As you enter, you will find yourself in an asian atmosphere - sights, sounds and aroma wise. Their crab... We arrived at 12:30 for lunch. It was crowded but after less than a 5 minutes wait we were seated. A Server arrived in a short time and we ordered Tom Khi Ghai and lettuce wraps plus Pad Thai. All were delicious, not sweet, and the lettuce wraps were bright with heat that built. Except for the noise all was... More

Managed to get a table when the restaurant was extremely busy without booking. Food was very fresh and tasty, service was slow but to be fair the restaurant was extremely busy. Will definitely go back when visiting San Francisco again.

Okay, so it is lovely inside, but quite noisy, even during lunch. It is always packed for a reason: the service is flawless and professional and the food is delicious. The food presentation is impressive as well. If you love Thai food and appreciate quality service, then This is the place to go. You won't be disappointed.

Though packed with diners over a holiday weekend, the staff kept everything running smoothly. Our party of 12 had 12 entrees--some very good, some outstanding, some rather disappointing (the tuna tower, for example). Recommended for thai food lovers and those who like to see and be seen. Noisy, colorful place and a good time to be had if that's your... More

Wandered by chance into here for dinner - very delicious starters and mains (although their interpretation of roti is bizarre!). One of the best pork curries I've ever had though!. Quick service and a busy place so not a place to linger.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
