This place has a great atmosphere, live music, pretty outside dining. The food is not bad but nothing special. Your basic pub food with a twist

We visited Bar Harbor on a lovely sunny July evening, within half an hour the fog had come in! We fell upon McKay's without a booking, but we were in luck and were given a table on the stoop. We had oysters and crab cake followed by their house special the lobster Mac & Cheese, its got to be tasted,... More

McKay's was next door to our hotel in Bar Harbor and we decided to try it -- very glad we did. We (my wife, adult daughter and I) had an excellent meal on a very pleasant summer night. My wife has a garlic allergy, which they accommodated nicely with a boiled lobster. My daughter had a "summer grill," which included... More

I don't live in Bar Harbor but, close by. So I often don't go there at the height of summer tourist season, because there are plenty of quiet, beautiful place near by with a lot less people and traffic. That said, when I have friends and family visit Bar Harbor becomes a destination. Usually a hike in Acadia National Park... More

Outdoor and indoor seating. Arrive early on Friday and Saturday if you want to sit outside. Menu has an excellent choice from pub food to local specialities. Wait staff is excellent. We went on Sunday and Monday--they also had entertainment. Reasonably priced for quality and quantity.

First, the beer selection is fantastic and very well curated (can I use that for beer?). Second, the food made it really hard to stop eating when my stomach was full. Lastly, this is the fanciest Irish place I've ever been to, which needs to be taken in context because we wore shorts and dress shirt/blouse. My husband had questions... More

Atmosphere was excellent, service efficient and friendly and the food was excellent. I had the steak, a friend had the seafood risotto both were delicious. However, for me the highlight was the best beer selection I've ever seen at a restaurant and the knowledgeable staff. Chris in particular was instrumental in guiding me on a joyous beer journey. Great night

We arrived in Bar Harbor at suppertime. Our B and B host suggested McKay’s as one of his local favorites! It was a very short walk so we decided it was a good choice for the evening. As it turned out, it was a fabulous choice for our first evening AND our last evening in Bar Harbor. The atmosphere is... More
