We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at McKay's Public House on July 20, 2014. It was our last evening on Mt. Desert after a week off the coast on Sutton Island in a 100 year old cottage. The service, and the food were amazing. There was great live music from an accomplished guitarist, and even though a slight drizzle could have... More

Stopped for a pre-dinner glass of wine. The evening specials were especially enticing and well presented by our server, Taylor. We thoroughly enjoyed the wine and appetizer and decided to stay for dinner. The food, service and ambiance were delightful. Additionally there was entertainment provided at the next door wine shop. We will return again before our vacation ends.

We liked this restaurant for it's outdoor seating and music. It is located at the end of town away from the main busy section. It is popular so reservations might be a good idea. We had not made any so had to wait 20 minutes but we got drinks and sat outside on comfortable chairs and listened to the music.... More

Just got back from eating there. Very satisfied! There was a wait and the host was very helpful letting us know where to sit with our drinks and listen to the non-intrusive pleasant music someone was playing. When we got our table, the waitress was so happy it almost seemed like she wasn't working. Wish my job was that good.... More

First off, I love lamb and in particular lamb burgers. I'd had a delicious one here on a previous trip many years ago and it was a given that's what I was going to order this time. The duck confit appetizer was excellent with a delicious blend of pickled cabbage, arugula and cilantro topping a crispy fried wonton chip with... More

Food was hit or miss for 4 diners. My wife had the Seafood Risotto and it was very tasty. I had the Duck Meatloaf because I like to experiment. It was terrible. Not because it was duck but because it was deep fried like Peking Duck! It came with a blackened outer layer. No where was this described in the... More

My boyfriend enjoyed his lobster mac and cheese, but I'm a vegetarian, and the curry dish was a little odd. The flavor was good, but the mixture of vegetables (although fresh) was weird-- tons of carrots, some broccoli and cauliflower, all over rice and black beans. Many cooks just don't know what to do with veggies.

Visited twice while in Bar Harbor. Both times the food was delicious. My husband had the seafood risotto twice! I tried the shepherd's pie and the beet salad. Both had a unique twist and were very flavourful. The lamb in the shepherd's pie was very tender. Also had the smoked haddock dip. I wasn't sure I would like it but... More

Had dinner on Thursday night, July 17th. It was the perfect evening to sit outside in their cozy outdoor area. The owner/manager was very nice and sat us at our seats. There was a guitarist playing outside and the music was lovely. Our server has very friendly and helpful. We were a little slow receiving our drinks but the food... More

The food was delicious and the host was very helpful in seating us at a table we preferred. The outdoor seating was really nice with a guitar player for entertainment. The wait for our food was a little long but not enough to keep me from going back!
