Our son's got us a gift certificate to McKay's for our anniversary, knowing we had been there before and enjoyed it. Bar Harbor is a tourist town, and many restaurants cater to the tourist crowd. We are locals, and McKay's is open nearly year round, so their stock in trade is the local business. And it shows. On a Saturday... More

Three monthes ago we enjoyed our trip in Maine and we arrived for dinner at Mckays restaurant. We ate a pub burger and the seafood risotto. It was like Italian risotto and we drank wine very good. The atmospere is very welcoming and the waiter Sara was very good and nice with all of the guests. We advise others to... More

We visited Bar Harbor for our anniversary in the winter "off season"and were delighted to find (on our Inn host's recommendation) this perfect place to enjoy our first night's dinner. We just happened to be there for their date night dinner menu option and were treated to a surprisingly varied menu of delicious appetizers, entrees, desserts and full bottle of... More

We patronized McKay's on an early evening in August. We sat in the garden and received excellent service. I had the Lobster Mac and my wife had some sort of chicken dish. Both of the meals were great, but be prepared to spend a bit more than some other places in Bar Harbor. The waitress was also extremely nice to... More

We sat out in the garden on a beautiful September night and listened to a guitar musician while we ate and enjoyed our wine. The service was top notch and the lobster Mac and Cheese was wonderful. We would love to go back for all of the above reasons.

Its in a cozy house on Main St. I appreciated that it was open year round. The food and service were excellent!

We returned to McKay's for a delicious meal while in Bar Harbor. We remembered we had enjoyed a meal there 4 years ago, and we were not disappointed. The chef certainly knows his/her way around the kitchen, with excellent fresh and delicious flavors and combinations. Wait staff was exceptional, and we enjoyed the quaint interior decorating. A favorite of ours!

This was arguably the best meal we had on our week long trip to Maine. The food was wonderful and the setting was amazing. Everything we ordered was excellent but the highlight was the Muscles that were a special that night, they were fantastic! We will be back again on our next trip.

This is the place where my wife had her first taste of fresh whole lobster...she loved it. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, but a bit cramped. The service was excellent, and with a glass of wine and a couple of desserts...the night was perfect.

As many other reviewers have said: lobster mac and cheese. That's all you need to know. But actually McKay's is more than just that; they have a lovely garden seating area and also on the porch, where we sat (and where the maitre d kindly moved us after being concerned about being caught in the rain). They also just overall... More
