Description: The Dog and Pony Tavern is a unique dining and drinking spot that is hidden...
The Dog and Pony Tavern is a unique dining and drinking spot that is hidden in a cluster of trees off the beaten path in Bar Harbor. Those who are adventurous enough to find it will enjoy cheap but delicious cocktails and meals in the "treehouse" beer garden, outdoor gazebo bar, or may find themselves at the indoor dining area watching the day's sports game. D 'n P (as the locals call it, short for Dog and Pony) opens at 11:00 am for lunch and drinks and stays open until 1 am! Food is served until 12:00am, but after the tavern closes at 1 am in the summer, a take out window opens, and food is available from 1am 'till approximately 2am. It's a great peaceful place to eat and drink during the day and a happening night spot after the sun sets. In 2010, Dog and Pony was voted #1 Patio Dining and #1 Night Spot! Locally owned and operated, the DnP offers a unique Bar Harbor experience you can't find anywhere else!

Great place to hang out and chill.

My wife and I try to go here as much as possible. It is a fun, clean place to go. In the spring, summer and fall they have outdoor seating and a separate gazebo bar. In the winter there is only the indoor seating but it is a lot quieter in Bar Harbor in the winter so there is usually... read more

I love going to the D&P. There is something on the menu for everyone. My favorite are the Poutots (poutine using tater tots instead of fries). Lots of homemade items, and an excellent prime rib on Thursdays.

We were looking for a late breakfast our first day in bar harbor and this was recommended. Appears to serve all meals of the day as well as provide nightlife. Friendly staff, food was good. Mine was a typical eggs and bacon, hash browns were a disappointment as they seemed eerily similar to McDonalds. Wife got one of the benedicts... More

Kids loved lunch here (preteens), felt like dining in a treehouse at their outside deck. Delicious lobster rool, good beer selection, pretty good poutine, too.

We stopped in for a late lunch. We kind of stumbled on it since it is on a side street. The food was worth it. We had a burger and a steak sub. Both were excellent and you definitely get your money's worth. Service was fast and very friendly. We will definitely go back!

We came here on a recommendation from a bartender at another Bar Harbor establishment and were happy we did. We sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation with the bartender and had efficient service for the many beers we had! The food was great with large servings ~ great prices.

Great, clean tavern with a diverse menu. Wait staff very friendly as were the locals. Menu had everything from tater tot poutine! to lobster bisque. The bisque could have been served in an upscale restaurant. Drinks reasonable and nice wide open space. Specials daily. We were in Bar Harbour 2 days and ate her for both lunches.

We ate at the Dog and Pony for an early dinner on a weeknight. The place filled up with locals as well as travelers, and our waitress advised us on some great local beers and good food. I had a great burger! The prices were very reasonable and it just had a great vibe.

We arrived in Bar Harbor late on a Friday night and found that many of the restaurants still open for the season were no longer serving dinner. (It was after 9:00pm) We were directed to the Dog & Pony and the friendly gentleman at the front door welcomed us in. This certainly appeared to be a local’s bar and many... More

Good beer and atmosphere. No Bar Harbor cuisine. Just locals and bar food - sandwiches, burgers, fries. Great if you want to sit back and watch a game on TV while drinking local brew. Don't expect lobster :)
