The Dog and Pony Tavern is a unique dining and drinking spot that is hidden in a cluster of trees off the beaten path in Bar Harbor. Those who are adventurous enough to find it will enjoy cheap but delicious cocktails and meals in the "treehouse" beer garden, outdoor gazebo bar, or may find themselves at the indoor dining area watching the day's sports game. D 'n P (as the locals call it, short for Dog and Pony) opens at 11:30 am for lunch and drinks and stays open until 1 am! Food is served until 12:30am, but after the tavern closes at 1 am in the summer, a take out window opens, and food is available from 1am 'till approximately 2am. It's a great peaceful place to eat and drink during the day and a happening night spot after the sun sets. In 2010, Dog and Pony was voted #1 Patio Dining and #1 Night Spot! Locally owned and operated, the DnP offers a unique Bar Harbor experience you can't find anywhere else!

Good place!! Best lobster roll..

We were going to go to another restaurant up the street first but there was a wait so we were passing by here and there was a table outside and decided to stay. We were all pleasantly surprised. The clam chowder was probably the best of all the places we ate at and probably the biggest bowl. The... read more

Pub fare food was excellent and we enjoyed sitting outside on the deck for lunch. No problem handling our group of 10 with separate checks!

We stopped in after a hike and The Dog and Pony delivered in convenience, quality and price! The fried balogna sandwich was a throw back to my childhood and I loved it! The biggest surprise, was the clam chowder! Creamy, and luxurious and obviously made with a little love. Who'd a thunk?? I had chowders all over Bar Harbor and... More

Since it was a warm day, I sat at the outside bar. Wonderful surroundings. I had the lobster roll ( under $13.00) and it was excellent! A toasted roll, thin layer of lettuce and filled with lobster with just enough mayo to hold it together and the meat from a claw sitting on the top! I think that the Food... More

The clam chowder was excellent and the tater tots were also good for our family when we grabbed a quick lunch. The decor was cool and the kids joined the following video game. Nice place!

I am so glad I checked out the reviews in advance. This isn't a place I would have picked, had I not checked out reviews in advance. Between the name and appearance, I was worried about it being the best choice for kids. That said, I was wrong and so glad we gave it a try! We sat outside in... More

What we loved about The Dog and Pony…great prices, EXCELLENT lobster roll (ordered the "hot" option (butter instead of mayo)), extremely friendly staff, great service, lovely outdoor setting under large oaks, and a charming name. The night before we had eaten at another restaurant across the street because we saw a couple reviews that said it had the best lobster... More

Our family of 5 ate at this restaurant for dinner. The outside dining felt like a tree house atmosphere, which the whole family really enjoyed. I had my first ever Lobster Roll, infamous in Bar Harbor. It was very good and reasonably priced. I also enjoyed a "Sailboat" cocktail that was also very good. The kids all liked their food... More

First time trying the Dog and Pony Tavern. Wish we had tried it before. Started with the Poutots (tater tots covered in brown gravy and mozzarella chunks)....excellent. Most of the party had the hanger steak....not one complaint even with different "done-ness". The standard Bar Harbor fried haddock dinner was excellent. Nice selection of beers and friendly staff. Stop by if... More
