Certificate of Excellence 2013
Price range: $6 - $14
Cuisines: American
Dining options: Late Night
Description: The Dog and Pony Tavern is a unique dining and drinking spot that is hidden in a cluster of trees off the beaten path in Bar Harbor. Those who are adventurous enough to find it will enjoy cheap but delicious cocktails and meals in the "treehouse" beer garden, outdoor gazebo bar, or may find themselves at the indoor dining area watching the day's sports game. D 'n P (as the locals call it, short for Dog and Pony) opens at 11:30 am for lunch and drinks and stays open until 1 am! Food is served until 12:30am, but after the tavern closes at 1 am in the summer, a take out window opens, and food is available from 1am 'till approximately 2am. It's a great peaceful place to eat and drink during the day and a happening night spot after the sun sets. In 2010, Dog and Pony was voted #1 Patio Dining and #1 Night Spot! Locally owned and operated, the DnP offers a unique Bar Harbor experience you can't find anywhere else!

On of the most relaxed atmosphere place I've been in quite sometime. I'd go back again , often. Very friendly people , both employees and customers.

I have been here many times in the past few years. I have never eaten here but the outdoor bar is very nice. Workers have always been attentive and courteous.

this place is the place to get food late at night, when everything is else is closed down at 11pm here serves food until 130 sometimes. its great. I prefer the outside patio and bar but on chilly nights you can go inside and there are a couple of booths. When I was there last it was nice but it... More

Yes, just like the name of the place implies....it is a TAVERN...not a restaurant. For anyone who doesn't understand what a tavern is and thought it was a restaurant: tavern |ˈtavərn| noun an establishment for the sale of beer and other drinks to be consumed on the premises, sometimes also serving food. With that being said, what a great tavern!!!... More

The menu is typical bar food and the drinks are pretty typical for these parts (microbrews galore) but the outside eating area between the trees is a great atmosphere for a lunch or drinks. The tater tots were great and a big serving. I really liked the chili. Avoid the hot pretzels. The beers were served cold and fast.

We liked the fact that this was off the tourist radar. We were in search of some basic New England seafood and this pub fit the bill. It is small and obviously geared toward the local beer drinking crowd. Service was good, although not overly friendly. No big deal as we were there to eat and not to chat per... More

We stopped here based on an ad we saw on a town map of Bar Harbor but I was surprised to walk in and discover this was a bar - not an actual restarant. They had 3 booths where you could sit and eat - the rest of the space was a bar with stools. The building is tiny -... More

My wife and I found this hidden gem of a tavern on a recent afternoon in Bar Harbour. It is located between 2 parking lots in the downtown area and could easily be missed. The local beer we sampled wasreally good (otter creek IPA). The female bartender was able to give us lots of info on the area and we... More

Worth a stop for all the local beers on tap. Was disappointed they didn't have Atlantic's Coffee Porter, but no one did. Lobster Roll was average. Mid-day service was attentive.

Maybe it was what we ordered but the food was nothing special. The lobster pasta was bland with very little flavor and the nachos had very little chili and smattering of canned processed cheese all over it. The salad looked like they had taken hamburger toppings and chopped them up. Seems like a great place for a drink but I... More
