I had planned this stop well in advance given the reviews. We had just gotten married just down the shore from Otter Cliff and wanted have a nice dinner near by. We were seated pretty quickly given we had a reservation for my family and spouse. Between everyone's plates, they were all very good with the exception to "Swiss Chard... More

Definitely in an out of the way location, this restaurant is outside Bar Harbor in a village called Otter Creek. If you blink you night miss it except for the many cars parked outside. It is absolutely original and creative. Be warned there is very little meat on the menu. It is a seafood restaurant mostly. Since that is what... More

Get out of town now and drive five miles to Burning Tree. A bit eclectic in décor, this restaurant is in a quiet country setting (a challenging parking lot in the dark of night) and has a more relaxed feeling than some of the other nicer BH establishments. Excellent drinks, experienced and attentive service that is not too formal. The... More

When going to a restaurant that you have not been to before one hopes the experience will be a good one. The Burning Tree primarily offers fish, wonderfully prepared, typically with organic vegetables grown in their own garden - this place is truly terrific. Interesting sauces, fresh organic vegetables, and salads make your meal a wonderful experience. A great wine... More

Based on our research we chose Burning Tree for our annual Fall MDI week end. More restaurants are showcasing locally sourced ingredients prepared to highlight flavors, textures and visual appeal. Burning Tree seems to enjoy this direction. The hostess and servers were engaging, helpful and well versed in the menu and drinks. The shrimp, crab, scallop fritter appetizers were as good as... More

Burning Tree is by far my favorite restaurant on Mount Desert Island. It is just south of Bar Harbor and well worth the trek. I hadn't been in a few years, and I realized again as always what I was missing by not dining there more often. Burning Tree is small and requires reservations in adavance especially during the height... More

When we come to Mt. Desert, we always look forward to dining at the Burning Tree. We are wondering what has happened. When we ate there a couple of days ago the service was poor and our food so salty as that it was mostly inedible. So very sad. We hope it was just a bad night, but we are... More

Twas a great meal. My wife had the cod and it was excellent. I had a chicken and chorizo dish -- mmmmm. Service was also very good and the server -- young man - had good knowledge and explained the menu very eloquently. Drink were the proper size and the atmosphere was quite appealing

We had a little trouble finding the Burning Tree, but it was worth it. This is the kind of place that you seem to find out about, after you've left the area. We were visiting the Bar Harbor area and did some research and discovered The Burning Tree. Lucky us. Original dishes with the emphasis on freshness. We stayed with... More

We went here for dinner with another couple and it was wonderful. I wasn't excpecting the quality of a Primo (Rockland), because the restaurant is off the beaten tourist path, it was after Labor Day and raining cats and dogs. The food was absolutely fantastic! The squash blossom and salmon appetizers were excellent. My sole (one of the day's specials)... More
