The appeal of walking past the lush garden supplying the herbs and veggies you're about to enjoy is undeniable. We both ordered fish and thoroughly enjoyed each course. I'll never forget the cocktail special of the night: a purple basil mojito prepared to perfection. more

We really enjoyed dinner here this Fall. We got there just a few days before they closed for the season. There are no meat options (maybe chicken?) but we came for the seafood. Lots of choices. We shared a great salad and then the scallops and a fish entree. Both were great. It's a little bit crowded but the service... more

I cannot believe that anyone would submit a negative review about this facility. Four of us visited in mid-October and each had a meal that was superb. We all had a seafood dish that was outstanding. The presentation was just beautiful - each course was served with fresh, edible flowers that complimented the dish. The staff was friendly and accommodating... more

This restaurant is very expensive and the food/service did not meet the same standard of other resturants in this price point (red sky, town hill bistro, havana. maggie's). My cold appetizer salad which included watermelon was served on a HOT plate that had clearly just come out of the dryer and it warmed up all the food on my plate.... more

My wife and I (local innkeepers) made our annual pilgrimage to The Burning Tree. We were struck by the fact that the food there has never been better. Fried stuffed zucchini blossoms with homemade tomato jam. Shrimp, scallop and lobster fritters were light and not a bit greasy. My wife had an excellent local salmon with smoked tomato aioli and... more

A couple recent reviews gave us pause; we've been on and off infrequent visitors over 20+ years from the early days of this restaurant and we wanted to see what's changed. We had an excellent experience tonight from the greeting to the farewell and all points in between. The appetizers were inventive and the seafood entrees had vast flavor and... more

Have been to the Bruning Tree a few times in the past and loved it. Apparently, success has spoiled them and now customers are just an afterthought. The food was not any better than most good restaurants in this area, but the service and hospitality was terribly lacking. We arrived at the beginning of the week so the place was... more

Our innkeepers recommended Burning Tree as one of the best, if not THE best restaurant in town. As others have noted, it's about a 10 minute drive outside of Bar Harbor proper. The restaurant itself is small and charming, and has a large garden in which herbs and some produce are grown. We shared two appetizers: the lobster-and-crab fritters, and... more

Include Burning Tree when in Bar Harbor if you want some fabulous dining. Make reservations well in advance, it's not easy to get in, and you don't want to miss this place. The food is clearly prepared with love & care. The servers are great, good wine selection, and the nightly specials are inventive. Been several times and we always... more

This is an amazing restaurant run by amazing people. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we left there more in love than we ever have been. And it wasn't because of us, it's because the food is made with precision, care and comfort. There is soul in this food. Our seafood fritters were cooked to perfection, along with... more
