Pretty good

I had the blackened salmon sandwich and the was really good. The dill mayo with it made it great. A typical bar with tvs and high tops along with bar seating and tables.

Mike is one of the best bartenders in Bar Harbor. And, the bar food is so perfect after a long day in the car. It's always our first stop!

One of the few places that - to my untrained, touristy eye - had more Mainers than tourists in. A good thing - the beer was plentiful, varied and cheap. The food was fine - my wife's clam chowder was OK, my burger was better. The food took ages to come but this was acknowledged by the staff and they... More

We had to wait outside for a table and we were told to be standing there or miss out. We waited 20mins for a table opposite the bar. The seafood was great, the beer tasty and the service friendly. Bar far the cheapest meal we had in a month in the US and close to being the best.

When we arrived they were queuing out of the door and it was easy to see why. The food was good - best value we had in this part of the US - and we had friendly service and cold beer. What more can you ask for?!

Didn't stay for dinner but stopped by to watch some of the NCAA playoff football games and have a few appetizers and drinks. They had really good happy hour specials and a good selection of local beer. Staff was friendly and attentive. Seemed to be a lot of locals there which is usually a good indication.

I Love This Place! It's right in the middle of town. It's old, quaint, has good food & a nice variety of beer. I go back every opportunity I get!

We arrived here after walking down the street in the pouring rain. It was recommended by a number of locals.. fine. We went and arrived about 12:30.. in a storm. The places was jammed. We waited a good 20 minutes for a table. I suppose the wait would have been less had people had the decency to leave after they... More

June 8, 2015 - My wife and I were visiting Bar Harbor and found the Thirsty Whale. We ordered fish and chips and a blackened salmon sandwich. The Thirsty Whale is a very popular place, not only with tourists but also with locals. It is also a popular bar. The service is swift and courteous; and the food is very... More
