This was recommended by the folks at National Park Kayak, said to be where the locals go. Must be very well liked because it was very busy. Service was slow, food OK. Might be a better place when no so busy. Waitress was distracted and took long time to place order even for drinks. Way too long to take food... More

Seat yourself establishment with very good selection on the menu with daily specials. We had 9 in our group and the service was great, friendly and accommodating. Limited selection of local brews but the few they had are good choices. Highly recommended in a town with many choices.

This is a pub that remembers the locals and is more than happy to have the tourists. The food is terrific. Burgers are very satisfying, lobster rolls are the way they should be- a hot dog bun and lots of lobster!-that's it, I would also highly recommend haddock sandwiches(blackened) and the fried clams. Great selection of beers and you have... More

We had dinner at The Thirsty Whale Tavern. Definitely a pub atmosphere but two of us wanted fried belly clams just one more time before we left town. Very friendly service, really good fried clams and the other two dishes that our group had we quite good also. Worth a stop. Seems to fell a bit more "local" instead of... More

1. FAST SERVICE... unusual for so many of the places on Mt. Desert Isle. And very friendly-glad to see us! 2. Good beer selection (it is a bar) and some wines 3. Great sandwiches- we had 4 different kinds and all were outstanding- black & blue burger, Haddock sandwich (fish was humongous!),blackened salmon(great spices) and fish taco 4. All ingredients... Nice to find a reasonably priced restaurant with good pub food in a vacation town. Place was packed on a weeknight in June when we were there, but we were seated promptly. Typical pub fare with seafood thrown in. All was nicely prepared and tasty. Would definitely return. One note, most of the tables are 4-seaters, so larger parties were... More

I ordered the fish and chips and the fish just melted in my mouth. Not greasy at all. The service was great. We had one person needing gluten free food and the server was very careful about making sure that what he ordered was gluten free. Food and service were great!

Nice clean restaurant with friendly service and good food. A bit pricy but worth it. Service was attentive and friendly, restaurant was clean. We had the lobster and a burger. Both were very good, fresh and tasty. Overall, there is not a lot of character in this bar restaurant but it was a nice experience.

On a recent hot and muggy day we were in town to buy groceries when hunger overtook us and we decided to find a place that wasn't over run by tourists and screaming kids. I know, good luck with that. After a discouraging walk about town we were getting desperate and finally just ducked into the next open door. What... More
