Nice clean restaurant with friendly service and good food. A bit pricy but worth it. Service was attentive and friendly, restaurant was clean. We had the lobster and a burger. Both were very good, fresh and tasty. Overall, there is not a lot of character in this bar restaurant but it was a nice experience.

On a recent hot and muggy day we were in town to buy groceries when hunger overtook us and we decided to find a place that wasn't over run by tourists and screaming kids. I know, good luck with that. After a discouraging walk about town we were getting desperate and finally just ducked into the next open door. What... More

The muscles were irresistible. One whiff of the garlic and I stepped off the vegetarian wagon. My quinoa burger( ordered before the muscles) was tasty indeed. My friends lobster with stuffed crab meat perfect. We sat at the bar and the bartender was sweet and service was fast and not rushed.

The Thirsty Whale Tavern was a cool place for a Bar harbor lunch. Inhabited by many locals, who for once in this town, seemed to out number tourists. The place is what the name says, a tavern. There is a wide selection of local craft beers. I took a seat at the bar. Mike, the bartender, made a good bloody... More

Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, but I was not a fan of the "fingers" of the fish and chips. I expected something better battered and fluffy. The fish was fresh and moist, but the four "fingers" on a bed of mediocre fries was a disappointment. Service was good. This is a tavern with pub fare. It probably has great... More

We came in looking for good food at a decent price, and after a long day of hiking, nothing feels better than a $4 beer, and a $9 sandwich that includes a salad. You can spend so much more in Bar Harbor on a dinner, and it won't make you as happy as the Thirsty Whale does. We spent two... More

The atmosphere in the Thirst Whale was much was you would expect at a bar for dinner. We had to wait quite a while at the hostess stand to be seated (even though there was no one in front of us) and once we were seated it took a long time for anyone to come over to help us. Once... More

We headed over to the Thirsty Whale (I guess we had a theme going). Anyway, we were freezing and starved after being out on the water all day. Our friendly waitress kept the great coffee coming while we waited ( not long) on our food. I had ordered the seafood platter. It was a huge portion and very delicious. The... More

I have stopped by a few times at this place. Great food, atmosphere and drinks. It is centrally located and a busy spot worth checking out!
