Stopped by one evening to have some drinks and snacks. It was a great atmosphere. Tried some new snacks we had never had--lobster bites, not bad.

Another great recommendation from the front desk at our Bar Harbor hotel. The Thirsty Whale is a cute, quaint tavern right in the middle of the shopping district of Bar Harbor. Their lobster roll/chowder combination was delicious. My husband's haddock sandwich was tasty as well. Don't forget to try the blueberry soda!

We had lunch here before leaving town. The lobster roll was so delicious and so are the burgers. Clam chowder, delicious! The beer was nice and cold. Would love to try it again for dinner!

We had lunch here on our last day in Bar Harbor. We had the lobster chowder soup. It was some of the best soup I have ever had! My husband had a buger and I had a wrap. We enjoyed them both. Our waitress was excellent. The atmosphere is casual and fun.

After enjoying a whale watch it seemed like the fitting place to have lunch. It is not fancy, but the food was good and reasonably priced. We went to a play the following evening and during intermission the MC said he was going to the Thirsty Whale because the ending was so sad. In September we were in Sorrento, Italy... More

We were told about this restaurant by our cruise bus driver and it didn't disappoint, We had the most delicious lobster rolls while sitting at the bar. The bartender, Heather, was so friendly and treated us like we were neighborhhod locals. What a find!

No place else seemed to be open in Bar Harbor on this snowy January day, but that was our good luck after all. The lunch we ordered of fried clams and a hummus plate was fresh and tasty. Beers and wine were fine. The server was delightful. This seems a very good place to enjoy a casual meal or just... More

Our friends brought us here and it's turned into one of our favorite spots the locals frequent. I enjoyed their nachos and washing them down with a great blueberry beer!

This place was recommended to us by a man on the boat docks so we went. The service was less than optimal and the food was average. Nothing to write home about...maybe just a bad night for them??

The Whale is a local favorite that is sure to please. They have strong drinks, great food, good prices, a great local atmosphere, and live music most weekends during the season. Everything I have had at The Whale is good. My favorite are the mozzarella sticks, Whale salad, and a burger. Second runners up are the fried clams and chili.... More
