Came in for a late lunch but so did a lot of others. We put our name on the waiting list but found two seats at the bar. The bartender was great. He immediately came over and took our drink order. When he wasn't attending to his customers he was helping the hostess. I ordered the lobster and corn chowder... More

We ate here twice. Salmon sandwich was big and tasty. Shrimp portion is large, salad was fresh. Would love to have a friendly bar with friendly service like this at home.

We live within an hour of Bar Harbor and come here often for their great seafood. This is casual and relaxing dining with friendly waitresses who don't rush you. We like to relax and enjoy one of their many draft beers before ordering food. Our favorites are the fried clams, seafood sampler and the fish and chips. They are always... More

Service was terrible. No one seemed to care if we were here or not. We will not be back and I doubt anyone here working cares.

We wanted a casual place for dinner and chose Thirsty Whale. To be honest it met our expectations. It was a small pub and had decent food. My husband had a burger and I had the haddock sandwich. Everything was fresh and hot. The waitress was friendly and service was quick. (No waiting)

The food was fresh and delicious! The music was excellent and it was a fun, cool and relaxed place to hang out with friends!! If you are a vegetarian in Bar Harbor, you HAVE TO have the Veggie Burger!! I'd go back there just for that!

We always ask locals where they would grab a bite of dinner. Today, three different locals told us they would go to the Thirsty Whale. So we did and we were not disappointed. My hubby had the fisherman's sampler because he loves a fried sampler platter. I was in the mood for a burger and I was not disappointed in... More

There was a line waiting to get in the night we visited. No hostess available, so we just signed a sheet on the bar with our names and # in our party.Ended up taking seats at the bar as they were the first to come available. Service was quick and food was pretty good.

I apologize for the long wait and no hostess the night you were in. We are short staffed right now and we do have a few nights with no hostess. It does slow things down a bit. We have also been having computer issues due to smoke damage from the fire next door. This is also slowing down our service.... More

Touted as a place where local people go, we went for a light bar food dinner. Surroundings are average for a local bar. Service was indifferent at best by whomever happened to be passing by and perhaps noticing you. The one bright spot was the lobster corn chowder, served with several generous chunks of lobster. My wife had the fried... More

Typical bar with typical bar food. Beer prices were good for a tourist-centric town. Nothing special.
