Cafe Bluefish was one of our best nights out in Bar Harbor, for the food and the drawing room ambiance. Sadly, it's closed. However, the chef/owner has opened a new place down the street called Casa on Cottage where she serves elegant traditional Mexican food with a couple of seafood twists. The molé poblano and roja sauces are smolder in... More

Service was slow, food was expensive and merely mediocre. Rice was overcooked, main courses small. There are far better restaurants in the area. Went here in our 1 year wedding anniversary and left very disappointed.

This is a fun and quirky restaurant with an interesting menu. The owner and chef have clearly thought about trying to produce a menu which isn't just about lobster (though you can have that here), and there were two good vegetarian choices on the menu so we could have something different each. I started with the ginger cranberry Cosmo which... More

Had an excellent early dinner here. Our party of 3 had salmon two ways and scallops, all of it was prepared to perfection. Cozy ambiance. Enjoyed the trivia cards and old yearbooks.

If Woody Allen ever did a movie in Bar Harbor, Maine the protagonists would definitely have dinner here. This place is all good things Maine; yes the lobster strudel and the lobster bisque are delicious but the supremely charming atmosphere with a large dose of character make the place really unique. There's nothing about this place that's contrived or feels... More

A few friends and I recently ate at Cafe Bluefish in Bar Harbor and had a lovely time. The cranberry ginger cosmos were terrific and we had a nice bottle of organic malbec with our meal. I am a vegetarian and they have some really excellent veggie choices. I had the north african curried tofu dish as my entree with... More

We had a great meal at Cafe Bluefish last night and highly recommend it to anyone who loves complex, intense flavors! It was our second visit during our stay in Bar Harbor. We went on our first night in town and tried the famous lobster strudel which was excellent. We also shared the steak with jamaican jerk bitter, again, excellent.... More

My friend and I arrived at Cafe Blue Fish, tired, (a little out of sorts!), hungry. We were initially looking for take-out, so that we could just return to our room. BUT - we walked into Cafe Blue Fish, and the atmosphere was welcoming we stayed - the food was superb, fresh ingredients- simple, yet complex taste combinations, light but... More

High ratings? How? Yes I loved the ambience, very homey. Salad was the best part of the meal. Scallops marginally tasty and exactly FOUR of them? Wow. Salt and lemon did help though. Lobster strudel was a little better, but was pretty small. There are much better places in Bar Harbor.
