Definitely a Poor Boy's Gourmet

After walking around, looking for a place for dinner, we stumbled on this cool little place that smelled amazing from the street. Good smell always leads to good food. I had the Swordfish Picatta special and it was delish. Large salads and an array of fresh seafood. This was the perfect dinner spot.

Very bland food. My pasta had pesto with no taste. My wife had lobster which was ok but not great. One of our friends had the cab which was very soggy and lacked texture. Overall, pretty disappointing place given the price point and menu.

Really efficient service. Drinks are reasonable and yummy. The pasta Primavera was on the garlicky side. The lobster bisque was yummy. Sat outside on the patio and had a really nice relaxing time. Would go again. We'll priced food

the service was great and we enjoyed the seafood, scallops were excellent and enjoyed the blueberry martinis.. visiting from Florida we left a pair of prescription sunglasses there had to leave early next morning, so we called them when we got home and spoke with "Dennis" he remembered us and found the glasses, we provided an prepaid envelope, and he... The dinner entrees were not memorable, but the desserts (blueberry pie, white chocolate cheesecake) were very good. The fish entrees were pretty good, but the mediterranean pasta was only fair.

Due to crazy congestion and lack of parking anywhere near the waterfront, we ended up at Poor Boy's. The restaurant boasts a very elaborate menu and uses the trendy descriptors of the day to describe their dishes, but when it comes down to taste, the food is just so-so. Perhaps we were the exception, and not the rule, but our... More

One of my favorite restaurants in Bar Harbor. Menu has a great variety for those of us that aren't huge seafood lovers but I honestly come back here every time for the cheesecake.

Excellent crab cakes. The hostess suggested the walnut baked salmon, and it was excellent. Delicious food at a reasonable price.

This is one of our favorite spots. I've been here half a dozen times. We love going for the early bird specials. I got the never ending pasta, but couldn't even finish the first bowl! My husband got the baked haddock with crab & shrimp stuffing. He said it was great. The prices are very reasonable, even during non-early bird... More

We ordered baked haddock from the early bird menu on a Sunday. We found the early bird menu on their website which was available from 4:30 to 6 pm. The fish came with a side of cold broccoli salad. (I would've preferred steamed broccoli.) There was rolls and a side of bow-tie marinara. The central Bar Harbor location was quaint.... More
