Although the restaurant's advertising points out that it is a reasonably priced gourmet restaurant, I consider the use of the term a bit exaggerated. Although the food served is good, it is far from being "gourmet". Its main feature, as one would expect in a town such as Bar Harbor, is lobster and seafood and the menu certainly offers a... More

Poor Boy's Gourmet restaurant is one of the most popular in Bar Harbor. Wonderful owner and friendly staff. The food is reasonably priced and always good.

We had seen plenty of good reviews, and wanted to give it a shot. We arrived not much after they opened, there was maybe 3 other tables of people besides us. I started noticing that all of the other customers orders were wrong, things like vegetables were mixed up, wrong soups, etc. We had the same thing, I had ordered... More

Having eaten at the Poor Boy's Gourmet some 12 years ago, we were keen to return to see whether it had maintained its standards. It had. We had to wait to be seated as it was very busy. Most of the restaurants in the area serve Early Bird Specials and the restaurants get full very early, clearing somewhat by 7.30pm.... More

We met friends who live in bar harbor in the summer. They suggested this place. We were not disappointed. We started out with the clam chowder full of clams really good. I had the haddock which was delicious. My husband and the others had the lobster. Yum yum sweet and tasty. We ended with the blueberry cobbler, perfect end of... More

Meal was a solid B. Drinks were an A. Get the blueberry daqauri. The lobster sauté was skimpy but very tasty. The lobster dinner special was fine if you are not jonzing for a decent sized lobster. Stay away from the Haddock sauté, kind of dry and fishy. Prices were not outrageous.

Sat at the bar, service was very good. The atmosphere is definitely pub-like, both up and downstairs. Patio is very nice and on a warm evening, the best place to sit. Good for families, couples who want basic food. Food is very good and prices are on the low-end.

Service was just great!! Priced right, all our meals were very good. I think they have to be one of top spots in the area. I would recommend calling ahead to make reservations. We'll done!

Couldn't understand the waitress, telling us the specials. We are not prejudiced, but the Bulgarian accent was hard to understand. Bread was horrible; dry & tasteless. Good Caesar salad ;nice size. Waited a VERY long time for entrees. I . had to inquire. I ordered haddock with crumbs on the bottom , topped with shrimp & crabmeat. They must have... More

This little bistro as very pleasant. We enjoyed the outside seating especially after the sun went down. Blueberry martini was delicious😊. I had the lobster sliders and my husband had the sautéed lobster after we each sampled the soups. I wish I had ordered the lobster meal because my sliders were a little mayonnaisey. My husband enjoyed his meal and... More
