Super convenient for a take-out lunch if you are going to the beach/park/picnic, etc. Buffalo chicken wrap was phenomenal. Very big and tasty. Also got a "baked potato" with cheese and broccoli. Not exactly what I expected... It was cubed potatoes in a bowl with the cheese and broccoli on top. Still very yummy and you get a large serving... More

There was a line at this place, but it was due to the cruise ship passengers stopping here. The line moved reasonably fast, and the service was friendly. My husband and I each had a warm, buttered lobster roll, and it was delicious. There is no place inside the deli to enjoy your food, but there are plenty of places... More

My wife and I were in Bar Harbor in September 2014, on a cruise through Canada and New England. As we walked through Bar Harbor we passed the Downeast Deli and decided to try it, as we waited for our whale watching trip. The special was a lobster roll, claim chowder and blueberry pie. The lobster roll was large and... More

We were in town when two cruise ships disgorged their hundreds of passengers into downtown Bar Harbor. There was a long line at the deli but they served quickly. Most had the lobster roll. There was a sign listing the options so selection was fast. The rolls were served quickly and were very tasty. Decent price.

First time visiting Bar Harbor and we were doing our own walking tour of the Main Street before trolley tour of Acadia National Park. As we were sitting on a bench across the street, I noticed lots of people going in and out of the deli. Since I had never had a lobster roll before, I thought I'd give it... More

Our hotel recommended this place as the top place in Bar Harbor for a fresh, healthy salad to-go for our lunch in the park. Really ? 2 handfuls of lettuce and a few shaved carrots from a bag and 2 individual tear-open servings of Kraft salad dressing is all we got for $12. Lettuce was not all that fresh either.... More

Lines were long but worth the wait. At first I was skeptical that a $9.50 sandwich was a tourist ripoff but they were huge and really good. The specialty sandwiches were better (and larger) than the deli sandwiches. The Ruben and thanksgiving day sandwiches were especially good. The brownies had just come out of the oven and were satisfying

If they are busy, don't go here to eat because they WILL mess up your order. Then, when you bring it to their attention(after taking it out because there is no sitting down here), they will say you should have let them know immediately and they COULD have done something. They will do nothing about their error except say YOU... More
