I live and work in the area and being in customer service, I consider it part of my job to eat at various restaurants in order to accurately inform guests what is available. Fathom is , IMHO, the best restaurant on the island and consistently gets raves from my returning guests. My personal favorite is the filet mignon. I've eaten... More

Small but lovely place, with EXCELLENT food. Trendy preparations and presentations, you would expect to be served in a BIG CITY!! A nice walk thru downtown to the little house where it is located, all in a residential neighborhood. Make reservations and GO. You won't be disappointed.

I went to Fathom as a solo diner the 2nd to last night of the season. I had tried to make a reservation for the same night earlier in the week, was told that there were none available but that I could try to walk in. Walked in just fine as it was late in the season and there seemed... More

My husband and I were there on our honeymoon and wanted to splurge on a nice restaurant. Our B&B recommended this place and we weren't disappointed at all! The decor was a little to be said for. Not my taste.. but the food was excellent. Our server was superb! We had the crab cakes and although they tasted like they... More

The romance continued on my recent trip to Bar Harbor when my fiance and I had dinner at a newer restaurant in town, Fathom. After a day of hiking around Acadia National Park we were really looking forward to some lobster and gnocchi! The restaurant was nice inside with hardwood floors, white linen tablecloths, and tastefully decorated. It’s obviously a... More

Delicious and well-presented dishes. Fresh ingredients. Vibrant colors. The lobster gnocchi was my absolute favorite - so flavorful I wish I didn't have to share with my friends (and seriously considered ordering an individual one just for myself on top of the shared portion). Low key decor but excellent service. Definitely worth trying!

Took the family there when we stayed in Bar Harbor. It was more upscale then some of the more casual restaurants in the town. The service was great. Make sure if you make a reservation you cancel within 24 hr or you will be charged $25/person.
