Off the beaten track but still "downtown," this intimate restaurant in an old house is perfect for twosomes or small groups who want to enjoy good spirits, outstanding food and warm, responsive service. Not your average tourist food (meaning mediocre), this offers casually classy ambiance... More

This is an awesome fine dining place in Bar Harbor – eclectic menu and great ambiance. We had some very tasty drinks (the “Bluette”, a blueberry drink was incredible). The bartender poured me some great Cold Creek gin. I started with the Duck Confit Lettuce Wraps – unique and tasty. She had the pickled beet and poached pear salad. I... More

The restaurant is in an unpromising location but, as you approach, the delicious aromas welcome you. The menu had unusual combinations with layers of flavor: for example, carrot soup with smoked honey, duck breast with kumquats, and mission figs with cheese and prosciutto on frisée. Service was friendly and unhurried. Well recommended.

We were seated promptly for our reservation. Server was very kind and fun. She guided us to a couple of things on the menu for appetizers - mussels and drunk shrimp. Both were good but not amazing. Three of us had chateaubriand which was very interestingly prepared with kale and broccolini. My steak came out cooked too much. They fixed... More

Finally great food finds Bar Harbor. We hadn't been to MDI in a few years and on our return found several new restaurants on the scene. Fathom delighted us with some clever flavors and thoughtful preps.

I was really looking forward to dinner here after reading the reviews in Trip Advisor, but my experience did not reflect what everyone else was saying. The atmosphere was uninteresting and the food was inconsistent. My husband enjoyed his steak, but my lobster with gnocchi in brown butter was swimming in greasy brown butter, to the point where I felt... More

Pat M. I'm very sorry you didn't enjoy your lobster and gnocchi entrée - I'm a bit surprised as it is one of our top sellers. Brown butter is a key ingredient to the dish (hence why it is mentioned in the description) but certainly if the kitchen was heavy handed and it was not to your liking we could... More

The food was very good overall, but the service left something to be desired. We had to send out a search party to get someone to take a drink order. This may have been unusual, but the restaurant did not seem overly busy so it was somewhat surprising that the waitress wasn't somewhat more attentive. Definitely worth trying, however.

Our dining experience at Fathom could not have been more wonderful. We were a party of nine and everyone raved about the meal. Our wait staff was amazing, friendly and attentive. The service was professional and what fine dining is all about, even though the restaurant has a relaxed, casual feel to it. They really provided us with an exceptional... More

Everything about the restaurant felt refined. We were seated promptly. The service was friendly and quick. The food came nicely presented. We shared a crab cake appetizer which was excellent. Both the scallop entrée and the roast duck entrée were perfectly cooked and delicious. The wine selection was good.

This restaurant is conveniently located within walking distance from the main street in Mount Desert Island in Bar Harbor. We had Scallops and Lobster Gnochi for dinner which were both prepared superbly. Our server was very helpful during our selection process.
