We just called in and were fortunate to get accommodated. I'd book to avoid disappointment. I opted for the lobster, my wife had steak. Both were excellent and we really enjoyed the meal, plus the fact the drinks were reasonable,

I would first like to say that Jenny is awesome. She is super knowledgeable and sweet. If you like to eat like real food (but they do have gluten-free chocolate cake that makes you actually like gluten-free things) and drink (adult drinks) come here when you are in Bar Harbor! They close for winter though, which is the only bad... More

Great service, great food, local hangout. My wife had the Lobster Thermidor and I has one of their fantastic steaks. Great cozy place to spend the evening.

It's been over two months since my sister and I visited Bar Harbor. I can honestly say that the meal I had at Black Friar Pub was one of best meals I have ever eaten. I had Boursin stuffed chicken with marsala sauce and mushrooms. It was beyond delightful. Each bite was savory. My sister had a seafood dish (don't... More

We make a point to stop in at the Black Friar Pub each visit we make to Bar Harbor for either breakfast, dinner or just drinks. This visit was just drinks...Blu-tini's. Their special for the night with homemade blueberry puree. Yum. It is our pleasure to bring someone who hasn't been there before to see what we have found tucked... More

This is only a block off of one of the busy streets but very quiet. The Inn has several rooms to rent and a smaller restaurant and bar. The food is always good and service is excellent. For dinner I had one of the specials which waa seafood pasts; very well prepared, a nice size serving, with a little of... More

After a few nights of the standard main/west st $20 lobster, we stumbled upon the Black Friar Inn. While it is certainly "off the main drag" it is hands down (seriously) the best meal I had in Bar Harbor. The staff, chef and atmosphere was fabulous and unique. The blueberry butter & warm bread, killer dark & stormy, oh and... More

The Black Friar Pub in Bar Harbor was located in a Bed and Breakfast hotel located on a side street across from the Hannaford Grocery and the Municipal Building. It can be seen, but is not obvious, when walking or driving on the main streets of town. The restaurant is small, with only four tables when we visited. It is... More

I have mixed reactions to the Black Friar. On the positive side, it's a nice, though small establishment several blocks from the busy areas of Bar Harbor. It is both a pub and an inn, so I don't think it is well known with the tourists. The staff is very nice and attentive. However, I was not impressed with the... More

Jenny makes the BEST cocktail in bar harbor! Tried the lavender lemonade last night and it's my absolute fave now! :)
