Great Waitress, Welcoming, Good Food

Local word of mouth recommendation. Great service. My wife had a custom made to order grilled cheese sandwich, best ever, and she ought to know. I had the black bean quesadilla loaded with extra veges. Standard though excellent food. Not the kind of food you usually get at a tourist mecca like Bar... read more

Loud, busy atmosphere, good service, delicious lobster "stew", and the lobster mac and cheese was actually really good too! It's the comfort food you love with lobster in it! The pulled pork option for the build-your-own mac & cheese was a winner, too.

I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant! I put our name in and was told 30 minutes, after about 15, they informed me it was being cleaned and would be ready! Wow, that a great surprise that was! Our waitress was very friendly and informative with regards to the menu. Food came out in a timely manner and... More

We went here for lunch last week after reading trip advisor reviews. Food was good, not too expensive and didn't feel like t was just for tourists. Great Mac and cheese. Friendly waitstaff too.

Stop here after a tour of Acadia National Park for lunch. We all ordered the boiled lobster and Maine blueberry pie. Both were delicious. The lobster came out of the shell easily and was so tender. It was the best lobster meal we had on the entire New England/Canada cruise and we had lobster in almost every port.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant when we visited Bar Harbor recently and we were pleasantly surprised. Eating out is often an issue for us due to all my food allergies, but at Side Street Cafe this was not a problem. Our very nice waitress worked with me and suggested some meals that I could have if... More

Consistently good, year after year. Once again the food is good, staff is friendly. Seating was fast and made this visit enjoyable. Clean and comfortable seating and clean restrooms. We will be back.

We did this place two days in a row. Our overall food experience in Maine has been average at best, but there have been some stars and this is one! If you like lobster rolls, this was the best one, and we traveled the entire coast. Not seafood, but maybe the best Reuben I've ever had and the salads are... More

I wasn't impressed. I made it a point to sample the clam chowder offerings wherever I went in our brief stay in Bar Harbor. While Side Street is conveniently located and has verve to its ambiance, my dishes really didn't. I had the mussels which were good, but simply steamed with no broth to sop up with any bread. I... This was a trip advisor recommendation and it was right on. Call ahead to be put on the list as the wait is long in the summer. The staff were friendly the place was clean and the food was really good.
