Great place to hang out

Mermaid Tavern is a great place to hang out. They have a good selection of food ranging from Greek to American and the price isn't too bad. This is one of those places that the locals talk about a lot. They're really proud of their craft beer. And that pride is not misplaced. I had a Vanilla Porter. And then I had another. Decided that a gyro would be good to stabilize things. That worked out well. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and nice. We'll be... More

I don't eat here often, besides the wedges and the wings which are by my standards great, I do come here for their amazing craft beer selection brewed by the owner! I come here especially for the Irish Red Ale, it's just the right amount of flavor in every way, it's lite for a darker beer and so smooth. I... More

I had not been to Mermaid Tavern in years so I was excited to return. Big disappointment! The falafel had hard chunks of chick peas in them. It was as if the cook scraped the bottom of the fryer...yech. The salads had yellowish green tomatoes and seemingly old other stuff. The real kicker was the $12 pint of skunked beer.... More

Service was really good and the servers were very friendly. The gumbo was the best part of the meal. My girlfriend's grilled vegetable wrap was average. The salad dressing, Japanese vinaigrette, was excellent. My Italian sausage pizza was okay. The mozzarella tasted a little fake. The dough was very yeasty. I wouldn't order it or any of the pizzas again.... More

The lunch special was really good today, and the price is comparable or better than some of the franchise restaurants in the area. Almost never crowded on Saturday at noon. Good service. Can be a good place for a meeting, just let them know in advance and you can reserve the big table in the back. Locally brewed beer, plus... More

Love coming here for fresh beer. Food is fairly good and moderately priced. Worth hunting for in heart of Hagatna.

I first went to this restaurant with my husband for business and I wasn't too hopeful. I was therefore surprised by the quality of the food. It was a large gathering and everyone seemed very happy with their choices - the lamb chops were a bit hit. I personally enjoyed their hummus and pita bread appetizer along with the spicy... More

I love being able to find a great Greek salad once in a while, and Mermaid makes the best, complete with the Kalamata olives too! Live music starts around 7 PM for a special bonus!

If you love strong beer, this is the place for you but make sure you have a driver. The IPA and other beers are great but the food is just so so. Atmosphere is good and service needs help but worth the visit for beer lovers.
