Having first come to Honolulu in the late 60's this was one of the best restaurants serving local/Hawaiian food. We were a family of 8 and we all agreed this was a great place, servers were on top of everything and provided great service, food was outstanding, Squid Luau best I've ever had. They have two locations now and easy... More

So glad we stopped at this restaurant. Great local food. Had the poke and the short ribs and it was amazing. A must if you want to sample authentic Hawaiian food. The staff was very friendly as well.

Found this restaurant through Trip Advisor and confirmed on line that this was a place locals go for authentic Hawaiian food. Featured by Guy Fieri on Dinners, Drive-in and Dives it will not disappoint Our server made sure we sampled all dishes, explained ingredients and how it was prepared which really added to the experience. Don't let the location deter... More

Saw this place from TV. Went to this place.Located in a strip mall - nothing fancy. Limited seatings where you may have to wait outside. Got there and had a small wait. Our party of four ordered the Combos. I got Kaula Pork combo with rice, macaroni salad. Food is very good. All of us enjoyed our meals.

We just moved to this area and I am sooooo glad they have this restaurant close by. Helena's (Hawaiian food) is rated one of the best, but I think Highland beats them. But, the bottom line is what you like and how you like it. We had a combo plate and ordered a side of squid luau and extra haupia.... More

Went to the Highway Inn Restaurant for dinner. They easily made room for the 8 of us. The food was delicious, the pork was just right and the steak was tender and juicy. The menu has two sides one for Hawaiian food and the other side is your American side. We ordered from the Hawaiian side and food was excellent.... More

Excellent place where food is served in plastic boxes over the counter... or at your place with a smile. Quality us as high as can be with local low prices. Went there several times in 1 week. Just 15 minutes drive from JW Marriott where we were staying.

We wanted some authentic Hawaiian fare. This is the place. Loco Moco and pork were fantastic. Macaroni potato salad was yummy. It's a basic little place, very clean, with a deli counter; order at the front and take a seat. We were on our way home the next morning or would have bought some poke to go -- it looked... More

Never have I ever eaten at Highway Inn until I suggested to bring my dad here for a birthday lunch which didn't happen! Mom came along instead. Location isn't in Waipahu Shopping Center, but on the outside perimeter, across from McDonald's. We got there before opening time and found a parking stall at the front f the shop. We were... More

Food was great - like a luau at a local price. Choices galore - and if you don't have time to sit and eat they have the deli that will pack your food to go!
