Best plate lunch!

Simple Hawaiian fair at it's best! Best Haupia I have had all over the islands. Great service and you always know you are doing something right when it is filled with locals. Loved our experience here!!

Based on reviews, we stopped by for lunch when shopping at the outlet mall. Had the fried shrimp platter, loco moco, and pork/sweet potato quesadilla. All of it was outstanding. The quesadilla was completely unique to us and out of this world. What a great find! Highly recommend!!

I have been reluctant to write about this place, since it is already busy, but there is good reason for its popularity. It has also received other acknowledgements for its food (Hawaiian but also very local dishes) so the word is out. It is a family run place with a very neighborhood feeling. This is not a tourist spot and... More

If you want Hawaiian Food, there is no better place to go than Highway Inn in Waipahu. Only on Fridays, they make a delicious beef and watercress soup. They often run out so it is better to go for lunch if you want this soup. Or, they told me that if I call ahead, they will save it for me.... More

Highway Inn is an institution. As long as I can remember working in Waipahu there was Highway Inn. The location is in a somewhat "sketchy" area. There are low-mod rental apartments behind the strip mall that HI is located in. Therefore, the clientele may be off-putting. But sometimes, you find something good around something less desirable. With Hawaiian food, pricing... More

We asked a local where the best place was to get Hawaiian food. She recommended the Highway Inn. We went there for lunch two days in a row. It was wonderful and different. There was a 45 minute wait but it was worth it. We also bought poke at their fish deli for dinner back at our hotel.

If you ever wanted to try real Hawaiian and local foods. This is one of the best places to come too. Everything on the menu is delicious. Order the plates and add on everything else you wanna try alacarte. You come to Hawaii definitely gotta try this place out... You won't be disappointed...

Having first come to Honolulu in the late 60's this was one of the best restaurants serving local/Hawaiian food. We were a family of 8 and we all agreed this was a great place, servers were on top of everything and provided great service, food was outstanding, Squid Luau best I've ever had. They have two locations now and easy... More

So glad we stopped at this restaurant. Great local food. Had the poke and the short ribs and it was amazing. A must if you want to sample authentic Hawaiian food. The staff was very friendly as well.

Found this restaurant through Trip Advisor and confirmed on line that this was a place locals go for authentic Hawaiian food. Featured by Guy Fieri on Dinners, Drive-in and Dives it will not disappoint Our server made sure we sampled all dishes, explained ingredients and how it was prepared which really added to the experience. Don't let the location deter... More
