Good Japanese

There aren't many Japanese restaurant on the westside of the island and this is one of the better ones. It's comparable to Kuni's in Waipahu but I would rate it a little higher because of the restaurant itself. Kuni's has that run down feel to it and Kunio has more of a cleaner feel to it. The food... read more

The decor was lovely; the staff was nice. I had unagi kabayaki (teriyaki eel with rice on the side). The meal came with miso soup, salad, and nicely presented appetizers. The eel was average good. The salad dressing was sweet yet tart which made the crispy salad even tastier. Because of the crowding, I was seated at the sushi bar.... More

I stopped in to Kunio because I wanted to try their sushi. When you walk in, it looks a bit cheesy, but everyone is very nice; the service was the best part. I got an order of gyoza and tried a few rolls--spider, Cali, and sunset. The specialty rolls were fine, but the Cali was actually the best. There is... More

In an unassuming part of Oahu, this Japanese restaurant certainly delivered a good variety, ranging from their sushi counter to the a la carte menu. I had the butterfish misoyaki as a teishoku and that was sufficient, however for a slightly bigger meal, the combinations are good value as you can personalize it and allows you to try the range... My wife & I have been eating at this establishment for over 16 years. Not once have we ever been disappointed with their food. My wife loves their chawanmushi & sukiyaki! I prefer their combo dish of mixed tempura with salmon. Great customer service. Avoid their lunch or dinner rush hour because you will surely wait in line. However its... More

First time ever eating at this restaurant. It was recommended by family and I'm glad I went. Décor was excellent. It is on the small side with a max capacity of about 50 - 60 patrons. We scored a table for 6 and I believe it is the only one they had. Menu selections were I my opinion as their... More

This place is definitely more of a local establishment situated in the midst of a strip mall. The wait on a Sunday evening was 30-45 min and they were constantly hustling and bustling the entire time we were in there. We ordered sushi and had a few surprises on our when the food came - not knowing what we ordered... More

This is one of my family's favorite places to eat because of the choices and environment. My wife and son love the steak and I love the nabeyaki soba. They even offer the plum wine here, which is delicious! The staff are friendly, but the place is a little popular, so at times there us a wait. Anyone who likes... More

Ate here with the family after a busy day shopping and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of sashimi and sushi offered. Staff was friendly and we were lucky to beat the lineup.

I went here for dinner with a friend this past Friday evening. (First of all, parking is tight; your best chance during busy times is to park in the Lowe's lot and walk over.) We waited for about 30 mins. for a table (During busy hours, don't go super hungry; this place is popular!). My friend ordered the Rainbow Roll... More
