Several staff at our resort recommended this local "mom and pop" sushi restaurant. There was a wait for our group of 8, but not too long. Food was great - wonderfully fresh sushi. Local butterfish specialty was great too, though I preferred the Miso version to the other. Prices were high, but not unexpected. Hawaii often has prices like Manhattan.

Kunio Restaurant is a really great place to go for lunch or dinner and it's conveniently located in the Waikele Premium Shopping Outlets on the west side of Oahu right off of the H-1. It's a quick ride too if live or are staying on the west side of the Island and don't want to travel too far in probably... More

We only came here because a lot of the other eateries were closed for renovation. I had a noodle soup and it wasn't as tasty as other places and yet twice the price. It is crowded and busy and pricey. We wanted healthy and that was the only reason we went there.

People were waiting outside the door when they opened at 10:30 a.m. on a weekday. Capacity is large so everyone was seated, but it did fill up rapidly with new arrivals. The customers appeared to be mostly locals. Everything we ate reminded us of Japan. Their menu is long, with a huge variety, so it took a long time to... More

My family loves this restaurant. We eat here at least twice when we visit HNL. When we used to live nearby, we ate here at least once a month. :) The service is great, the food is great. They have a surf and turf special which is yummy (steak with herbed butter and some lobster) and their combo menu is... More

Irashimasen! We go to this restaurant often, to celebrate special occasions or just to go to get good tasting Japanese food with great service. The waithelp here always make us feel comfortable. You can tell that they really enjoy their work because they're always smiling and are eager to be sure that we're pleased with the service. The food is... More

I got a sushi combo lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the sushi fish was excellent, and the meal was well priced. One complaint: they no longer serve green tea ice cream! But the Baskin Robin two stores down does.

Their service/food is really good. This place is a bit pricey but it is worth it. You will spend about the same at other Japanese restaurants and it isn't as good.

We had excellent teriyaki and tempura at Kunio. We did not wait long and really enjoyed the meal. Service was great, and we will visit again for another bento box. Good value for the money. Kunio is in a strip mall. It's a small restaurant in a corner so it can take a bit of looking to spot it. It's... More

My second roll never came. The waitress checked on us once. The only people who were getting service here were the Japanese customers. My table and a group of Caucasian men at another table were getting horrible service. My 4 year old niece couldn't even get a fork for her rice.. And the sushi was nothing special. It was very...
