One saying describes the food here-"if it's pleasing to the eyes, then it's pleasing to the stomach"!! Great food!

My girlfriend and I wanted some warmed sake with sushi rolls. So we choose Gyotaku Restaurant in Pearl City. There was a long waiting list and was received and provided a table after 1 hours wait. After reading many good reviews, I thought I'd try Gyotaku. While I could understand the problems many people reported about parking, I came on a quiet Tuesday evening and had no problems. Inside, the restaurant gives the appearance of restaurants from the 70s or 80s. Compared to most, the interior was very light, almost bright. I had the udon with... More

This was my second visit to Gyotaku and I like it...I like it a lot! The tempura is expertly made and not oily or over battered. The sushi is fresh and they give u a choice of brown or white rice. Expect a short wait...but it is well worth it. I will be back on my next visit to the... More

The food here is very good. Their selection is also extensive with child and elderly portions. They have sushi dishes with traditional Japanese food including ramen and tempura. They also serve excellent steak dishes.

Unassuming atmosphere, diner-like feeling. But wait till you taste the food - excellent, reasonable price. They have kiddie nights when kids eat free with paid adult meal; Senior Menu which is excellent tho not extensive. Nice salads, which are (mixed) greens topped with delicious appetizer-type meats or fish in good sized portions. Tempura, soba noodles and udon noodles are great... More

We went there for a retirement luncheon. The Japanese food wasn't bad in terms of taste. However, the portion was small and the prices high. I guess for folks who find the company and conversation more important wouldn't see anything wrong with this place. It's a clean and decent restaurant for a gathering. I can't see myself yapping away and... More

Parking is limited during peak hours, but the food was excellent. They sell a salad dressing and several sauces that are a treat to your mouth, but remember they cant be taken on airlines as carry on bags.

This is probably one of my favorite Japanese restaurant. I do like going to others to try but it's almost like a staple when looking for good Japanese food. Price is about average for Japanese food. I love the variety and have several favorites there. Even the desserts are great if I can ever make it till then.
