Whether or not they know your name. Whether or not your normal daily order is ready at the counter when you walk-in, the greeting, the food and the delightfully friendly service is ever-flowing. Their "sister" spot near the beach offers nearly the same overall experience.

Great selections on the menu. Had some GF options. Only thing keeping me from giving it 5 full circles was the wait time from order in to food on the table. Won't stop us from going back.

I noticed some reviews have the deli and the restaurant mixed up. My husband and I had a great dinner at the restaurant. We sat out on the lanai and had great service out there. We started with roasted brussel sprouts with caramelized onion which had a nice balance of earthy and sweet. I had the pan roasted jidori chicken... More

We each enjoyed a sandwich made to order and they were both delicious! You can have the 'shrimp carts' along the highway, this place is clean, fast, excellent and worth the few blocks out of the way anytime!

We were in Kailua for two weeks, we ate at Kalapawai Cafe 3 evenings. We always sat out under the trees, the traffic was loud at first but the spot is so charming and the wait staff so attentive that we soon forgot the background noise. We always had the two fish specials, preparation always creative and fish cooked perfectly.... More

We live in the area and have eaten here frequently over the last 1.5 yrs. Dinner is very good but our favorite is the lunch special. Da Skinny. Kalua pork topped with slaw, bbq sauce and tomato on a taro roll is awesome. We have tried a couple other sandwiches and they have all been very good, however Da Skinny... More

Our first stop we ordered Salads and they were delicious! The next day, we ordered sandwiches and they were so big we ate half for lunch and saved the other half for dinner. They were very good. This is also a grocery store, so you can buy grocery items too. Note: We have noticed that most of the restaurants except... More

This store / cafe is one of the oldest on the island, and I had one of the best BLTAs here (BLT with avocado spread) I have ever had. You order, then pay at the entrance and then go back to pick up your order. Rumour has it the coffee is also amazing.

This place is always bustling, even when there's hardly any customers. I like the biscuit breakfast sliders and whatever quiche they have on hand; goes down great with hot or iced coffee. Last time I visited, I ordered the 'broke da mouth' poor boy - pulled pork with cabbage slaw and tomato on a toasted bun. Yum yum. Only downside... More
