We ate at Big City Diner twice while in Kailua. Huge portions, good prices. Loved the wings (interesting delicious bbq sauce). Calamari appetizer got mixed reviews - it was thickier than we're used to, kind of like fish sticks. Burgers were very good and the fries were delicious (crispy but not greasy). I heard that the poke here was supposed to be good. Yet it was not up to par and didn't taste very fresh! I was so disapointed in the poke. The rest of the meal was tasty however and the service was excellent. more

This restaurant simply knows how to make good food. I had a mushroom/chicken sandwich that was huge and every bite was orgasmic. Plus they kept refilling the diet pop. There are not a lot of places that are kid-friendly, and accommodating with picky eaters.... no onions, no peas.. Big City Diner is great! If they're not too busy... they will custom order your meal... my kids like no onions no peas in the fried rice, and my husband likes the fresh fish broiled with extra stir fry vegetables on... more

my first meal, when arriving to visit my mother in Kailua this April, was my choice, and I chose BCD-some serious jonesing for their calimari steak. tho not gourmet-just good food, prepared extremely well, great serivce, great value-true ohana!! local chain and most dependable more
