Voted one of Oahu's best by Honolulu Star Advertiser four consecutive years, BANZAI Sushi Bar is truly one of Haleiwa's best kept secrets. Tucked away in a back corner of the North Shore Marketplace, casual fine dinning, outdoor covered seating with Japanese-style seating on Zabuton pillows or conventional tables, diners relax all while watching surf videos and enjoy live local musicians on the weekend. BANZAI uses local organic produce when ever possible and has their very own Hawaiian fish buyer who presents himself on a daily basis at the worlds largest Tuna fish auction here in Honolulu allowing them to serve the freshest fish almost immediately. With one of Hawaii's best Sake selections, any sushi lover and sake connoisseur will be in pure nirvana. Dont miss BANZAI Sushi Bar on your next visit to Oahu's North Shore in Historic Haleiwa Town.

Great sushi

My wife got three rolls and there was more than enough for two people. I got the ahi salad and loved their dressing. Pretty fair priced. Great service. Unique dining with Japanese style seating on half the side.

Relaxed atmosphere with outdoor seating. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great drinks and excellent sushi. The avocado tempura is highly recommended. They have quite the selection of sake. One of our best meals on the North Shore.

I LOVE sushi, so we stopped by here for lunch one day. The atmosphere was fun, as we had the option to sit outside and on mats on the ground (or at a traditional table). The servers were friendly and the food came out relatively quick for sushi. All of the rolls we tried were good, but the unanimous favorite... More

Not too many choices for sushi on North Shore but glad Banzai is one of them. Their Ahi Poke is a great starter with nice chunks of ahi with sliced onion and green onions and just the right amount of shoyu. The sushi rolls were quite flavorful- we tried the Rainbow, Crunch, Gnarly Marley & The Lemon Drop. Gnarly Marley... More

We have passed by this place several times, and decided to stop. We were not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very nice. We ordered the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura, and it was some of the best we have ever had, and really filled us up - I really wish I had room... More

Staying out in Haleiwa for a change. It is more interesting than just cruising through. There are not that many sit down restaurants and so much more food trucks than I remember. We thought we'd try something a little more healthy and we saw Banzai the day before and decided to give it a try. Friendly greeting when we walked... More

So it's about 8.30 pm and staying in Haleiwa we found out that it's a different night atmosphere compared with Honolulu side. Most restaurants close early compared with Honolulu/ Waikiki. We were looking for a spot to eat we stopped in. First, we saw an empty table and were initially told it was reserved. So we left our name and... More

We really enjoyed our dinner at Banzai sushi. We ate a selection of different rolls that were all delicious, along with good miso & a couple of other small dishes. The atmosphere is typical north shore relaxed & the staff were friendly. We would definitely go back & recommend it for an informal lunch or dinner.

Sorry, but I have to stand up and say the emperor has no clothes. I've been fortunate enough to travel around, and live in, different Asia-Pacific locations for the past 32 years, eating one heckuva lot of sushi along the way. Probably the only place on the planet where this sushi would be considered good is in funky, eclectic, off-the-beaten-path,... More
