Had to stop

Matsumotos shave ice is an icon. If youre in the area, you need to stop. We did. We purchased t shirts for the family and spent our budget for the day. The shave ice is good. However, I think Ive had better. If you dont buy souvenirs, the shave ice is a good price. The store front is going... read more

Went to north shore for a shave ice. Matsumoto's has moved to a new shop behind the old store in a mini mall.It looks like they are going to rebuild the old one. The Shave Ice is good best with beans and ice cream. A large with both is $4

This was a really great treat for an out-of-towner. You've never had anything like this unless you have had it here before. We were brave and tried a small "rainbow" with ice cream and beans. Of course the ice cream was great mixed with the flavored ice - really made it creamy! The beans, although unusual, were not bad. They... More

The syrups are very sugary and not that great tasting. The lines are long and it is a bit pricey. Part of a tourist development area that really is not welcomed by the locals.

Another iconic staple of haleiwa is the Matsumoto Shave Ice. The lines are always long for a reason. They serve the biggest and best shave ice on the island.

A permanent queue doesn’t always imply quality but it’s a fairly good indication and Matsumoto’s shouldn't disappoint. The service is efficient and we needed the queuing time to decide on our choice of flavours anyway. To be honest we decided that the shave ice at Uncle Clays was better but Matsumoto's was also very good. Always get it with ice-cream... More

Matsumoto is truly THE shaved ice out of all the islands. The high quality syrups and best shaved ice makes this stop the best! It's more than just flavored ice, it tastes like a liquid dessert full of yummy flavor. A true Hawaiian tradition. Don't miss it. If there is a long line, WAIT ON IT...it's worth it!

For other British Travellers. Shave ice is a primitive version of ice cream. The secret is in the syrup. Add condensed milk for a creamyer taste. Again another tradition you must try. One between two is enough. They were quite big.

If you are on Oahu you need to come and try out the shaved ice. This is our third trip to the Island and never came here due to the long lines...we were missing out this whole time! Ignore the long lines...it goes quick and the shaved ice with ice cream is to die for. It was so good, you... More

Each time I visit the service gets worse and worse. I guess when upgrading to a new building, they decided to go cheap and use plastic bowls instead of using the traditional cones. What a dissapointment for my family's first shave ice. I will not return.
