Loved the different concept - great flavours and a lovely guy.

We had heard a lot about Opal’s and planned to locate the food truck during our September trip. We could only see a restaurant and weren’t sure if it was an imposter, but thankfully realised he had expanded! Stopped by n a Friday and waited for around half an hour for a table. The owner obviously knows everyone in town and they know him. He was funny, helpful and engaging all at the same time. Basically put my dinner fate in his hands and he didnt disappoint. WOW, mushroom/radish cake, Drunken noodles, pad thai, red curry-bursting .with freshness... More

After spending a few weeks in the US my family of 5 and I (3 kids under 7yo) were withdrawing from our usual Thai addiction. We had spent the day wandering around the North Shore and happened upon this restaurant. After looking at the menu we spent 20mins trying to order only to be told we had to wait for... More

The owner came to the table while we were looking at the menus and asked us if we like Thai food and when was the las meal we had at one. After a few more questions about what we liked, he took the menus and prepared a surprise meal for us. It was fantastic!! Grilled pork in a mild sauce... More

Heard so much about Opal Thai and saw a segment of Opal Thai, on TV. I "think" it was on Bizarre Food, when Andrew Zimmerman came to Hawaii. We ventured to Opal Thai for "take out" Thai foods. The menu is confusing. We ordered the Crispy Spring Rolls, Fresh Summer Rolls, and Chicken with Pad Thai Noodles. After we ordered,... More

My wife and I do love our Thai food. This is a place that I had actually planned our mid-day around on our all day excursion on Oahu on Tuesday. We went to Pearl Harbor in the am and were done about 11pm. We then drove up to Haleiwa with Opal as our target. The drive from Pearl was only... More

This is a small, unadorned place with a chef/owner larger than life engaging personality. Web site hours/days information is not accurate and best to check in advance via phone. Owner does not provide info for web and he does not know where it is being drawn from. They are closed presently on Sat and Sun and open from 11-3PM and... More

We visited Opal's Thai Food restaurant in November 2013. The photo on the Trip Advisor site shows a food truck but they are now in a strip mall location in central Haleiwa. We got there right as they opened and were promptly seated. Forget the menu as Opal asks what you like and don't like and then surprises you with... More

Probably the best place to eat in the North Shore and one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to. Seating is limited inside, so there was a long wait when we got there. We decided to take our food to-go, which was about a 25 minute wait. I'm not sure if they take reservations, but if they do, I... More

Average atmosphere, great experience if your going to the north shore. The waiter asked if he could order for us after we had already looked at our menue's, took everyone's likes, allergies, etc. into consideration and then brought our party of 4 everything we could have wanted. Would definitely go back, if we were in the area.
