This place was just as good as Matsumoto's. Take off your tourist goggles and try something different. They had great selection and didn't up-charge me for the extra cup holder. shorter lines, open later. get it!

After all to do about how great shave ice is, all I can say is, it's ok. Refreshing on a hot day, but certainly not the ethereal experience others compare it to. We tried it several places, and this one was good, but nothing to write home about.

This is my childhood in a cone... Shave Ice is terrific; and Aoki's is the best. Do not confuse this with a sno cone... it is not! The tropical fruit juice is the best as a topping. This is a great way to cool down and relax.

When my husband and I arrived in Haleiwa - shave ice was a must have. We looked at the long line at Matsumoto and proceeded directly to Aoki's. So glad we did - absolutely delicious! Looking forward to coming back and visiting them at their new location.

We stopped at Aoki's for two reasons. First, we couldn't find Matsumoto's. Second, we heard that many of the locals like Aoki's better anyway. I loved the drip guards they sell with the shave ice - they keep you from getting all sticky. Get it with the vanilla ice cream and be prepared to be amazed. Delicious!

What's a trip to the North Shore without Aoki's. Kids were thrilled with Aoki's over the resort shave ice. Big portions and low cost.

We have not tried the Matsumoto shaved ice so I can't compare it to their shaved ice. However, the line was shorter here. The kids got the chocolate flavor which was excellent.
