Good BBQ Avoid the Gravy

The brisket was very good and not too fatty. Loved trying all the sauces. The country fried steak would have been better if not for the awful gravy. Really the gravy was bad. Did enjoy the cornbread casserole which is really just cornbread with corn and cheese, but extra yummy. They make a... read more

I could not believe my son brought me to a BBQ place in Hawaii. I had the Brisket and the pulled pork and I was in heaven. The corn bread was something different and very good. The crab was too expensive for me, but most people were eating BBQ sandwiches that were stuffed with meat. The beer was cheap and... More

We are leaving Hawaii in a few hours and stopped in at the Dixie Grill for dinner. We got the calamari for an appetizer. The aioli for the calamari tasted creamy and was a bit different than I have had before. It was very tasty. The actual calamari was not my favorite blend. I generally enjoy the small, whole squid... We've eaten at the Dixie Grill several times and never been disappointed. This time was no expection. The food was delicious and it wasn't super expensive. Our waitress provided stellar service and for a Hawaii restaurant it wasn't terribly expensive. It's a fun atmosphere with great music. I would highly recommend it.

There's nothing southern about the food or cuban about the cuban sanwich. Spend the extra 3 minutes in traffic to go to Chili's if you want over priced bland food. And to Dixie Grill, real Southern Slaw has vinegar and mayo in the slaw, try it.

I used to be a big fan of Dixie Grill, and even after two unsatisfactory experiences over the past month, I'll still probably return. My friend and I went for lunch one afternoon. The place wasn't busy, but service was incredibly slow. A prompt lunch staff is important, because people are trying to get back to work. My savannah chicken... More

First the important stuff - Kansas City BBQ Sauce is the BEST of the 6!!!!! They have 6 to choose from and I recommend you try all of them. We even mixe them up a little. A nice spicy combo is Kansas City mixed with South Carolina, which has ret papper flakes. The sweet tea is great - true honest... More

Southern style cooking on Oahu? Mmm, mmm GOOD! All your Southern goodies, and more. Can be a bit noisy due to roadhouse/sports bar atmosphere, but worth a visit while on Oahu! Friendly, helpful staff--lots of Aloha spirit here. Had to eat here twice!
