I came here twice for breakfast on a recent visit to Maui. This is a great place to have breakfast before starting the Road to Hana! I LOVED the Huevos Rancheros - it's the best I've ever had!

I'm not going to lie--John the owner is a friend of my husband's. But they grew up in Paia, and he bought Charley's to preserve a local tradition. The menu is new and amazing--fresh, local, homemade, down to the mud pie. The cocktails are handcrafted, how a Mai Tai is supposed to taste. The servers are laid-back and friendly. We... More

Whether on your way back from Hana, coming down from Haleakela, or any other reason, Charley's is a great place to stop for a decent meal. We stopped in for dinner on a Monday night and were treated to live music. Had lunch there a few days later, tried the coconut panko mahi sandwich. One of the better mahi sandwiches... More

Stopped here for a late breakfast after sunrise bike tour of Haleakala. Breakfast was delicious, good menu - nice selection. Bloody marys were also delish!

I am not a big fish person, but I had heard about the fish and chips here. This is a hidden gem. Best fish and chips ever. There is a lot of history to the restaurant and service is great. You will miss this place if you are not looking for it. Located in a charming town about 5 miles... More

Although under new Management is better then the original . The interior decor is all new, the service is better, the food is really good and the prices are reasonable. I had the best Mac & Cheese with apple smoked bacon, a Caesar salad, a large order of onion rings and it was only about $15. My wife had a... More

Charley's is located in Paia, a town the locals say was made famous by Willie Nelson. There is a lot of Willie Nelson memorabilia in the restaurant. The locals all seem to rave about this place, but it was largely empty for breakfast in the middle of the week. Paia is a fairly small town and not a lot of... More

Thanks for the feedback, Barron. While I'm glad you mostly enjoyed your food, I'm disappointed that you didn't have a better time. I am sorry that you thought our food was only ok. We make everything from scratch using fresh ingredients. If there is anything in particular that we could have done better, please email me directly at Jonathan@CharleysMaui.com. I'd... More

Great breakfast restaurant and great food! Pancakes are enormous and I made the mistake of ordering 2. Way too much food! Portions are large but the food is top notch. My only complaint is that I ordered the mac nut pancakes and I really could not tell that there were macadamian nuts in the pancakes. Everyone was so friendly and... More

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to us, Elisa! Great choice on the macadamia nut pancakes, but I'm sorry they weren't quite what you were expecting -- we'll keep that in mind going forward. A tour driver told us about this restaurant saying it's been owned by Willie Nelson for decades "though he won't admit to owning it since his IRS trouble". ;-). Anyhow drove up for lunch and drinks. Strawberry Basil Lemonade made with midnight moonshine was really great, salads and sandwiches excellent too. Lots of character and history.

I see you're from Houston, but I hope you'll come visit us again next time you're on Maui! We look forward to seeing you -- thanks again! Take care, Jonathan, Owner More

Cute little place on the corner in Paia. I was told Willie Nelson has some sort of investment in the place and his pictures and gold records are prominently displayed throughout. Waitress allowed me to order from the keiki (child's) menu and got 2 tiny burgers with fries. Son had the full size burger with onion rings. Rings were awesome,... More
