My husband and I stopped at Charley's after getting up at 2am to watch the sunrise and ride down the volcano on our bikes. We were ready for some coffee and breakfast and discovered Charley's. It had an expansive menu with tons of different options. I had the huevos rancheros, which were delicious. My husband had the macademia nut waffles... more

We stopped at Charley's for brunch on our way Upcountry. The service was friendly and food very good, plentiful portions on the plate. more

The only way to describe Charley's is..it's a dive with great food. The decor isn't great and could be cleaner, but the food is terrific. Pancakes, burgers, and eggs benedict are great! The homemade coleslaw is AMAZING! as far as the service goes...you are in Maui..do as the locals do and relax! Take your time. I've never noticed any bad... more

I have been to Maui twice, driven to Hana twice, and had breakfast here at Charleys both times. The only thing stopping this from being a five out of five, is that the tables and chairs could have been a bit cleaner. The mac nut pancakes with coconut syrup are awesome (I ate about a third of it, due to... more

I wasn't expecting too much and thats probably the best way to approach this place. The service was awful and took forever -- one waiter came and took our order for coffee and juice and then disappeared for the rest of the time we were there, apparently without telling anyone about our order. Maybe he didn't really work there, who... more

Decor was awful - food was mediocre and service barely adequate. I had the special - a southwest chicken salad, beans and corn was from a can and chicken was tough - $14. Hubby had a cheeseburger, good but not great, bun was not fresh. We later learned that the fish house was the place to go. more

My husband and I both had the bisquits and gravy and it was delicious (and served quickly too). Great place to stop on your way up to Hana. The prices were nice too, I think our entire bill was $36 which included two breakfasts and a bloody mary. After paying $100 at the Four Seasons all week, we felt like... more

I read the other articles on Charley's and can say that many of the comments can be true. Just go to Charley's for the Woofer. Its a great hamburger, done right with awesome onion rings (order instead of fries). Forget about the fish. Go to Marco's for breakfast. Its a hippie place, with lots of burn outs at the bar,... more

Charley's was recommended to us by a number of people as a 'don't miss' in Paia, so we popped in for breakfast on our way out of town. The food was fine, a bit dry maybe, but tasty. The wait staff seemed burned out: not unpleasant, but not friendly either. All together it was a fine experience, but totally overpriced. more

After reading tripadvisor comments and planning our trip carefully around the suggestions, I knew Charley's had to be on the list on our way to Hana. We visited Maui in March of 2008 and our trip to Hana was mid-week. We arrived at the restaurant in cute Paia around 9am. There were only a few locals in the restaurant so... more
