Took our extended family there for dinner, they were out of most of their dinner options. Mashed potatoes sides to dinner were cold. Our waitress was.... umm... unusual. Our drink orders came back several times ("oops, we're out of that"). The only thing that was good was the salad bar. Don't get me wrong, our waitress was nice, just forgetful... more

Don't waste you time or money here. Bad time at this one. They ran out of two different menu selections, served really crappy wine, and didn't prepare the steak to order. When the steak was sent back, and a new item ordered, they waitress informed us they were out of that selection as well. Not once did a manager come... more

We were at Makawao Steak House for Valentines Day Dinner on 2/14/09--our first time after 8 trips to Maui. We were a party of four, seated promptly and waitress at our table immediately. This was a good place to eat. We went there based on the reviews and it didn't disappoint. The food and service were both good. No large group surcharge and we still left a good tip. Pobably the highlite of our eating places this time in Maui. more

We've been to this restaurant twice in the last 2 years, on separate trips to Maui, and loved it both times. We are NOT "foodies", but do love to eat in off-the-beaten-track places, and NON tourist trap places. This certainly qualifies. Upcountry place. Went there on our way back from Hana. Good food, casual setting. Definitely off the tourist beaten path. If you're in Makawao, good place, but I wouldn't make a special trip to go there. more
